is one of the happiest features of domestic life. With a Straube Piano in your home, an endless source of pleasure and amusement is always at j-our commandIts sterling qualities received the highest praise from critics and musicians who commend in the most favorable terms upon its power, tone and general excellence and great superioritv over
any other piano offered to the music loving public. In the selection of a piano, the name "Straube" can be depended upon. The difference between a good piano and a poor one, is represented by something more than merely the difference in quality of material and workmanship. That indefinable "Something" is difficult to explain, but is called character and individuality two attributes just as necessary in a good piano as in a first class man. "We have but one price, and all pianos sold according to their grade. Easy Terms if Desired.

on the relation, of Prosecuting Attor
ney, Charles E. Greenwald vs. Morris N. Castleman came up before Judge Virgil S. Reiter of the Lake superior
court at Hammond. The case came u
for the purpose of hearing the court'
ruling on the demurrer to the com
plaint.
The action has been started by the Commercial club of Gary which seeks
to oust' Castleman from the office o
councilman of Gary. It followed th
tender of a resignation by Castlema
after he had become piqued about th
action of the council.
McAleer Bros, of Hammond appeared
for the defendant and H. F. McCrack
en appeared for the Gary Commercial
club. The case was not on the regu
lar call fo today, and had to be taken
up after the regular call was conclud
ed.
CHANGE OF
Hearing Indefinite. "Word was received from Crown
Point today that Special Judge Pattee will be unable to take up the school board injunction case tomorrow, and
he date of the hearing has been in
definitely postponed.
In fact, Judge Pattee will not set a
date for the hearing. He has Informed the Hammond lawyers who are
nterested in the case that he will let
them know when he will be ready to hear the arguments on the special
findings of fact and render his de
cision.
the better it will be for navigation when the river is finally dredged out. 5. Beti ought to have what he wants for what he has done for Hammond. AgainMt Closing Street. 1. It is a mile from the corners of Sohl and State streets to the Beta plant by way of Hohman street. It is mile and a quarter by way of Calumet avenue. It is half a mile by way of the proposed extension of Johnson stroet. - . 2. Three hundred people use the Michigan Central bridge each morning and evening in going back and forth to work. This bridge occupies the same site as the proposed new Johnson street bridge. 3. The cost of the bridge and viaduct, while great, would be paid for in the saving per ton mile In the traffic across it which otherwise would be compelled to go half a mile farther. 4. No new bridges would obstruct the stream for the reason that the city
could unite on a double decked bridge with the Michigan Central railroad.
5. The opening of the new street
would develop both the north sides as a residential district and the south side business district.
. Serving Subpoenas. Deputy Sheriffs George Blockl and
Morris of Hammond were In Gary last evening serving subpoenas in the in
dictment cases which will come up for trial next week in the circuit court at Crown Point. Fifteen subpoenas were
served on Gary witnesses.

make an adequate presentation of their side of the proposition. The whole argument hinged on the question of the feaslbjlity of building the bridge and viaduct across the rlverg, and Attorney I L. Bomberger, who at one time stood sponsor fo a vast plan for the elimination of the Nickel Plate tracks from the business district of the city, a scheme that was then regarded as visionary, was positive that it is impractical, not feasible and entirely out of the question to build a viaduct and a bridge over the Simplex property and the Calumet river at Johnson street. Everybody present had something to say about the proposition, and the arguments on both sides were frequently repeated, but the following will give an idea of the arguments pro and con in this matter. For ClotK Street. 1. The cost of the bridge and viaduct would be too great. 2. It is not feasible to build the bridge and viaduct for the reason that the approaches would take up too much room. i. F. : S. Betz needs Johnson street for the purpose of laying a side track
the minister has greatly Increase the financial strength and nearly doubled the membership of the church. Dr. Sharp is a graduate of Ewing College, 111., having received the bachelor of science degree in 1902 and that of doctor of philosophy in 1906. For a number of years he has turned his attention to scientific and philosophical subjects, and since his residence in Hammond he has given most of his spare time to the study of medicine. The minister-physician is of the profound conviction that the healing arts belong to the churches as much today as in the early centuries, and says that the church lost one of its greatest blessings when she allowed the art to department from her temples. Dr. Sharp is a matriculant of both the Northwestern and Chicago College of Medicine and Surgery, and will b graduated from the latter school with a large class on May 15th. The exercises will be held at the Valparaiso university, i During his medical course he has made many friends among medical men, who hold him in high esteem for his knowledge of medicine and therapeutics. He is undecided how long he will preside as pastor of the Summltville congregation, but whether it will be of short or long duration he intends to devote his spare time to further studies in medicine and surgery in order to be the better prepared when he enters Jhe profession for the practice of medicine.
