A good story Is going the rounds in Hammond social circles about a certain
young couple not a hundred miles from
hence who 'christened their first
daughter a rather peculiar name. A
friend who was calling on the mother remarked on asking the name: "Well
I suppose you named her after some
rich relative so 'she would leave her
money to teh baby." "Oh, no," said
the proud mother, "we named her after the hired girl wtio likes her so she
wouldn't leave."
