Time was once when the little county seat town of Crown Point was universally conceeded to be the society center of the county. That was ten and fifteen years ago. But since that time the ctties of Hammond and Gary

have taken their place In the north end and Crown Point society women now have to acknowledge that they must share the honor with other cities. Some years back Crown Point society fairly outdid themselves and vied with each other who should entertain in the most brilliant fashion. In fact parties and other social functions were so numerous that the lady of the house went over her list of invitations and thought long before she would send regrets to the hostess she was most likely to offend by her absence Hammond ladies were always includeu on the invitation lists and in turn Crown Point was always well represented in the social affairs of the north end.

. But Crown Point's social set has J "come back" and have shown their j superiority as bridge players, when at j a bridge party given at the hom of Mrs. Victor Dyer in Homewood last j Saturday evening they succeeded In ; capturing the three prizes from the j Hammond bridge players. j Mrs. Victor Dyer formerly of Crown , Point was the charming hostess to a j large party of Hammond and Crown' Point ladies last Saturday night. A six ; course luncheon was served after which j progressive bridge whist was played, j The prizes were captured by Mrs. Ed- ; ward Eder, Mrs. W. H. Hayward and : Mrs. E. A. Slgler. ! Among the Crown Point ladles who were present were Mesdames E. A. ' Krost, F. E. Farley, W, H. Hayward.
