Nashville. Tenn., Dec. 31. On a field slippery and treacherous, the football game yesterday afternoon between the Vanderbilt-Suwanee and Michigan com

bination and the Harvard All Stars from Harvard law school, resulted in a scoreless tie. The game was hard fought. Two thousand witnessed the" melee, which was largely a punting battle, as neither squad could gain consistently. The Commodore - Purple - Wolverine was badly handicapped by ground conditions, and Browrt and Neely, their fastest men, had no chance for end

runs. Brown on the defense, however, twice caught men from behind when a miss, at least on one occasion, would have resulted In a touchdown. Near the close of the first quarter Browne fell while trying for a punt, missing the ball entirely. Captain Fish gathered it In and started for the goal line, but was Intercepted by the litle Suwanee quarter on the twelve yard line. This was the nearest approach to a touchdown during the game. Both sides tried for a field goal and failed. Dan

Portland, Ore., Dec. 81. National

interscholastic football honors will be at stake today when the Oak Park

high school football team of Chicago and the Washington high of Portland battle to a finish at Recreation park. The hopes of the Oak Park team took a decided slum'g, today ' when it was found that "It' would" be impossible to have the field in any kind of condition for fast football, " the kind Oak Park expected to play ' against Its western opponents. Portland, however, greets the heavy going with delight, - as all Its games have been played on heavy fields and the men, it is figured, will be able to show a shade the better work in bandling the ball in as much as Oak Park has had little 'experience with a wet oval.
