"On Saturday - the four started from Indiana Harbor on their way to East Chicago, afoot, intent, upon viewing the wonderful flying machine, whose one:lme presence In East Chicago they had lust, learned about. .The little girls were Anna Campion,

rslne years old, daughter of John Campion; Anna Duma, aged five, and Mary Iuma, aged four, both daughters of Teter Duma, and Mary Orsi, seven vears of age. i When the quartet rounded up at the Joyce hotel and Anna Campion flashed i five dollar bill and all of the youngrrers displayed brand new dollies, Mrs. Joyce became suspicious of her little ruests and decided that they were runaways. She accordingly notified Sergeant MeCormick of her suspicions and he ent an officer to the hotel to bring the babies to the station to be question. All Mrs. Joyce had been able to elicit from the little girls was that tlrey had come from Indiana Harbor and were bound for the spot which, according to Anna Campion, had under

HOT TIME III GARY " EXPECTED TONIGHT

Those who attend the session of the

Gary aldermen tonight should see some realistic scenes as the councilmen will make another effort to excommunicate Alderman Castleman from the municipal legislature. Every way conceivable has been studied out an dthe fight

will be lead by Alderman Bowser at the outset of the meeting. Mayor Knotts' gavel rule and Castleman's stratagem will have to be out generated if the latter's official head is to be dropped into the waste basket. Winthin a few weeks the council meetings should not be of such a lengthy duration as the new board of public works will take over the street improvement legislation, letting contracts, resolutions to that effect, the preliminary bu not the approval work on franchises, etc. Should Castleman be eliminated the most likely candidate for his seat seems to be C. J. Williams of Glen Park, a republican. The stubstltutlon of a republican for Castleman who is a democrat would then give Gary a republican membership of six in a coun

cil of nine.

(Special to Thb Timbs.) East Chicago, Nov. 21. Thomas Spencer, 4434 Olcott avenue, met wt.u a very painful accident yesterday morning, while on his way to work at the

No sooner had he born his full weight upon the ladder than the ladder, which must have been Insecurely placed, fell through an opening in the floor, carrying Mr. Spencer with 't to the basement. The aged man lay here half dazed for a short while, and then by a heroic effort. In spite of a compound fracture of one of his ankles he managed to re-

BEVERIDGE WILL NOT MOVE AWAY Denies Story He Will Go to New York.

Indianapolis, Ind., Nov. 21. The ra port from New York that Senator Beverldge will take up the practice of law in that city at the expiration of his senatorial term was denied by him today, but he refused to say what he expected to do further than that he would continue to live in Indianapolis. Among the senator's friends, however, there is a circumstantial story to the effect that he will devote himself to literature for a time at least after he leaves the senate. He Is said to have had In mind for some time a series of essays on public mind and questions with which he has had to deal, and It is believed he will compile this data into a series of semi-historical essays, throwing Into them such observations of his own as his close contact with men and measure will enable him to do.
