CHOKER COLLAR MUST GO, SAY T HE DOCTORS,
Only the possessor of a neck of infantile softness, whiteness and plumpness should attempt this daring arrangement in white and black. But now that physicians and physical culturists are prescribing Tow-cut bodices for all times and seasons and declaring war upon the choker collar, women are recklessly exposing bones and sinewy throats to a supercritical generation of scoffers. The square effect here shown may be attained by ripping the shoulders and frost seems of almost any bodices, adjusting to it a Dutch collar similar to this one of baby Irish, then connecting the two end3 with a fiat bow of velvet. The black velvet hat is one of those kindly-disposed rose-wreathed affairs which cover the coiffure and take years from the apparent age; it is further abetted in this charitable mission by its inner cap of plaited net and lace.

of the tuberculosis (un. It wai decided that the club women celebrate the
birthday anniversary of Riley our Hoosier poet. Reviewing; tna subjects discussed at this convention, one feels
that the club women of our state are
working for the uplift of others as well as for ourselves, on the back of each
program was the following:
Childhood's B1U Of Right. To be born right. To fee loved. To have Individuality respected. To be trained wisely in body, mind
and spirit.
To be protected from evil persons and
Influences.
To have a fair chance in lite. At the close of Mrs. Turner's re
marks the meeting was jciven in charge of Mrs. W. c. Belman. chairman of the literature committee. Mrs. Wilcox
favored the audience with a vocal solo,
'If I Were a Rose" and kindly respond
ed to. an encore. Both -numbers were
greatly enjoyed. Mrs. Adams Moore of
the University of Chicago, the speaker
of the afternoon who delighted her
hearers In the delineation of ZangwlU's
drama 'The Melting Pot." Before be
gining the drama she spoke feelingly of
the question which she considered one
of the most important of our time that of immigration, and our duty to those who seek a home In our free America
to them a haven of rest, lest they be
disappointed when they reach our
shores. They meet our needs In many ways, as well as receiving benefits from us. Jane Adams speaks in one her new books of what a loss It is to ourselves
if we do not know these foreign born people as they really are. We whose
ancestors for several generations were American born, many times forget to be
kind, and the speaker here reminded us that not one of us could boast of a long American ancestry, as our country Is only a little over three hundred years old. In speaking of this drama of Zangwlll, Mrs. Moore said "that like Shapeskeare he strikes the tragic In the
first scene" the conflict In religious
America where all nations come together to labor and to be built up.
These prefatory remarks prepared the
listeners to more fully appreciate the reading of the drama which followed, and I believe each woman present felt that she had received a message through Mrs. Moore's interpretation of "The Melting Pot." A piano solo, ar
tistically closed this delightful pro
gram.
