Third reading will be granted to the
redistrlctinT ordinance in the Gary city
council tonight. This will give the city
Its sixth ward, making Tolleston the new political division of Gary. When the ordinance is passed the fifty-year-old town which was annexed by Gary last winter will at last have become
an intergral and a firm part of Lake
county's steel metropolis.
It is not anticipated that any fight
will be made on the ordinance tonight
a3 all of the councilmen are now
agreed that two aldermen one from
Tolleston and one at-large is all that
is necessary. However, at the next or
previous meeting when the question
of naming an alderman comes up It is expected that the south end and first subdivision aldermen will engage in a mighty conflict. Each of the aldermen has a candidate whom he wants named,

landed with a dazer on the fellow who
"tried to get the strange hold, and the
other fellow backed away. France came to Popenguth's assistance and
openen an engagement with the fellow holding the horse, Jabbing his right in the fellow's eye, and, coming back with
full weight, landed on the fourth fel
low. Within twenty seconds of the
time the horse was stopped tre six men were in a knot, fighting and pushing
and clinching In the dark.
Finally Popenguth and France separated one holdup man from the bunch in an attempt to bring him to the Ham
mond police station. The others, seeing this,, tried to get the horse to run away without a driver. This caused
France and Popenguth to release their
man -and run after their horse. The
holdup men made no further attempt to follow them, and consequently the Hammond men continued their homeward journey without any further mo
lestation.
