(Special to Thb Times.) Indiana Harbor, Aug. 25. The big One Hundred and Forty-first street sewer, which is beingr built at a cost of $122,000 including its laterals, will be completed a week from next Saturday. This was the statement made by Roy Shackleton who has been placed in charge of the work by Green and Sons company, the contractors who have the job in hand. . This will be a relief to everybody who lives anywhere near the Job which has taken several months to accom

and south for a distance of two blocks
each wa.v, will be in slht.
For months 141st street has been torn up at various stages of its length, the banks being piled mountain high
on each side of the wide and yawning
trench. For months, people in the vi

(Special to Thb Times.) East Chicago, Ind., Aug. 25. It is expected that unless something unforseen occurs, the Hubbard Steel Foundry will begin turning out their product sometime during the latter part of the week. The machinery has been installed and the building completed and now nothing remains to be finished but some minor details when the fires will be built and the wheels put in motion. The Hubbard people purchased the old
Davidson Foundry property last fall and since then have had a large force Of men at work remodeling the old building and erecting a much larger structural Iron addition. The- headquarters of the company are In Pittsburg, but the unexcelled water and ra.il facilities of East Chicago appealed to the business instinct of the
officers of the company and they decided to locate a branch of their immense Industry here. Their product will consist of large and small castings, but they will cater more particularly to the rolling mi trade. When the pant opens it is not expected that a large force of men will be employed the men In charge preferring to begin in a more modest way end gradually work up to the full capacity of tho plant. The Hubbard Steel Foundry is looked upon In East Chicago as one of its best industries and the people here will take
great satisfaction in seeing the smoke
rolling out of the tall stacks, where under the old Davidson regime Such an
occurrence only' happened intermittent iy.

were nothing else to be seen and heard but the noise and din and laughter of the crowd, it is worth your time and effort to hark back to your younger days, jostle the crowd at the fair, meet
the face you used to meet, and laugh once more as you used to laugh in your barefoot days at the county fair.' The races yesterday were good for the first days races and although the time was not fast they were close enough to be interesting. The oil on Crown Point streets Is proving a benefit to man and beast alike during the continuous driving to and from the grounds and dust this
year is an unknown quantity.
NOTES.
The balloon ascension yesterday af

impossible for the dare-devil thriller

given the director and band of musi

No accidents happened last evening
to mar the first evening's performance
of free attractions as was the case
during the first night of the last two
years previous and the free acts were thrilling enough without being foolhardy. The management look for a record breaking crowd today and tomorrow In the event of favorable weather. Among the attractions are Charley (Kid) Cutler of Chicago and company of wrestlers, doing a good turn. Holmes' wild west shows, well worth seeing.

their hands on him. The former Gary bunk artist, not satisfied with his "frenzied finance" operations in Gary, is now at work on a game of even larger proportions in the Wisconsin town. MacFarlane is now
said to be coupled up with an unsuspecting inventor of a "clevis" by the name of A. F. Lewis of Milwaukee. The clevis isa small malleable Iron at
tachment to a wagon tongue and the patent held by the inventor Is said to
be one of great promise and one In which the farmers have taken great interest. ORGANIZE! BIG STOCK COMPANY. MacFarlane, according to detectives. Is now operating under the name of J. C. MacArthur. alias "McEwen," alias "MacDuff." .MacFarlane Is using, according to the reports, an unexcelled line of bunk. He has roped in a couple" of bankers and capitalists In the Wisconsin town, and all of the ministers
for miles around are going to Invest In the clevis and malleable iron corporation. GETS LARGE BOWSES. One of the bankers told a detective that MacFarlane, alias "MacArthur," is to erect a factory to employ 250 hands. MacFarlane is to be president and general superintendent, while one of the local 'capitalists is to be chairman of the corporation's dlctorate.
The Commercial club and the city council have already voted bonuses aggregating $5,000 to MacFarlane, and
a wealthy widow is to donate the land
for the factory. WEARS STOLEN DIAMONDS.
It seems that MacFarlane is still wearing the diamonds which a local Gary man claims he stole from him and he is posing as a Wall street broker.
Whatever hlr speeches are they are certainly making a hit with the un
sophisticated.
In adidtion to the industrial corporation which he is organizing, MacFar
lane also has plans under way for
large hotel which Is to take care of the employes of the concern. He is formulating a hotel company, and it was not
until now that the town realized that a
good hotel is an asset to the town.
MacFarlane is also to be president of
the hotel company.
One of the detectives who has been
on his trail and who will arrest him
in a day or so, states that MacFarlane has induced all of the farmers for miles around to subscribe to the company.
It is further stated that he is making
great headway with the farmer's pret-,
ty daughters and may shortly be en
gaged to one of the richest belles in the
town. POSES AS A FINANCIER.
There are no flies on the late Bible
class president in his Wisconsin operations, and he talks in the millions. Up
