THE TIMES.

LOOKS LIKE EfflET WHITE FOR G1TY JUDGESHIP

Although there is much speculation rlfa as to who will represent Gary on the police court bench after the official census has been received. Attorney Emmett White is said to have the outer edge on the situation. This was the opinion of a prominent local Democrat today, one who is in a

position to know wnat is groing on in democratic circles. Wildermuth for Representative. Although Attorneys Ora I "Wlldermuth, and R. K. ouren have been the likely candidates who have been the high favor by Mayor Knotts and Governor Thomas Marshall for the appointment it is said that strong pressure is being brought to bear at the present time by the local democrats to bring

out Attorney Wildermuth for State Representat fe. Wildermuth up to the Dresent time has been the strong can

didate for the city Judgeship plum and Attorney White has often declared that he would not seek the honor if Wllder- . muth was a candidate for the office. As the situation now stands the appointment now lies between Attorney Wildermuth and Attorney White. If

Wildermuth declines to be a candidate for representative of course White will remain neutral and not seek the office. But on the other hand should he accept it is most likely that Attorney White will be the next police court Judge. They Have I'nderstandlmg. ' Attorney R K. Houren a Crolius democrat has also been a strong possibility for the Judgeship, but it is said

that Governor Marshall and Mayor Knotts have had an understanding that If the mayor would throw all his

strength for John B. Peterson, candi

date for the Tenth district honors, the governor would not Interfere with appointment of the Gary city Judge. This

practically throws Houren out of the

race although the complexion of the situation may be changed at ' any time if agreements are not kept. , During the past few weeks. Attorney White, has presided as city udgo exclusively, whenever a change of venue has been asked from Mayor Knotts court. His decisions have always been fair and he is held in high favor among the local attorneys.
