Judge Is Recovering.

Judge William Westergren of Mill

er's "superior" court, stopped off in

Gary yesterday afternoon to get his

weekly shave. The Jurist was en route to Chicago with a large bass which

he caught at Miller and which he took to the big city to give some friends. It will be remembered that the judge adjourned court a few days ago to engage in a wrestling match and in the contest he slashed his arm accidentally.

Heat Kills Another Baby. Cholera infantum, superinduced by the heat, is cited as the cause of the death of the infant child of Mr. and Mrs. John West, Seventeenth and Van Buren streets. The child died last night. Since the beginning of summer there has been an average of fifty deaths a

month among the infants. Much of the

mortality is due to impure milk, in some cases the lack of it. The extortionate price for ice exacted for the

product by the Knickerbocker ice trust

and other monopolists has a good deal

to do with the slaughter of the little
