WILL OPEI'I BUFFET
, (Special to Thb Times.) . East Chicago, Ind., Aug. 16. Carl Johnson, a newsboy who works for Nassau and Thompson, started away on his vacation last Saturday. He made elaborate preparations for the outing, .which was to last two weeks, and got
due leave of absence from his duties as newscarrier for that period. He secured a substitute for his "route" and left everything ship-shape in a most I business like fashion. On Saturday after all his papers were delivered fie started for '"the country," where he was to enjoy fourteen estatic days of open air life, free from caret of all description, and ' devoted ' only to the pursuit of happines. :. This being the case. Mr. Nassau was v considerably surprised Monday -afternoon to find Carl on the Job again, as u'sual. "Why," exclaimed Mr. Nassau, "I. though you had gone on your vaca- ' tion." "I was, but I'm back," was the reply. "Dldn t stay as long as you expected to, did you?" "Nope. "What was the trouble? Were'nt you 'having a good time?" "Aw, yes, I was having a good time .all right, but I had to walk a mile to i see a street car, and say, it was too slow fer me, so I took a hike fer home. .Little old East Chicago suits me all right."

Popular Liquor Dealer Will Have Finest Equipped Place in County.
(Special to The Times.)
Indiana Harbor, Ind., Aug. 16. Indiana Harbor Is to have 'one of the finest
equipped buffets in Lake county. Sunny
Sheetx has closed out his business at the corner of Block and Michigan ave
nues and has purchased a half interest in the Metropole, the buffet now con
ducted by H. A. Hyams. The metropole Is to be remodeled and provided with new fixtures, these to be of the finest that money can buy, rich in mahogany and dazzling In plate glass mir
rors.
An innovation will be a lounging
room, elegantly carpeted and provided
with upholstered high back settees, tables and easy chairs. To make room
tdr this the partition that now separates the bar from a large rear room
will be removed and the apartment
thrown together. Incidentally the beer
will be changed to that of Fortune Bros., the change in this respect hav
ing been brought about through Thom
as O'Connell, Fortune Bros.' agent. A
H. Hancox of Chicago, general manager for the brewing company, was
out yesterday to arrange the details of the transfer and to take preliminary
steps for the fixing up of the place.
Sunny Sheetz is one of the oldest and
most popular liquor dealers In Indi
ana Harbor and a large trade will fol low him to his new business. Mr. Hy
ams, while not having been a resident of Indiana Harbor for so long a period, likewise has a large following of friends, and together the partners should do an extensive business.
