he failed to hear a passenger train approaching from an opposite direction.
He had his face turned and stepped out I
into the path of the passenger .train. The engineer blew a shrill blast but even this failed to attract the attention of the man, who was deafened by the roar of the rushing freight, and he was struck without turning his head, or realizing apparently that he was in any danger. - The train was stopped as soon as possible, the police notified and sergeant Barker and James McGowan. the latter employed by Krebs and Burns, undertakers, went over In Maxwell's ambulance, and brought the remains to Krebs and Burns morgue. As soon as the identity of the victim was established, the Sauer residence
was phoned of the accident, and in the
absence of Dr. Sauer, who was in Cedar
Lake, Mrs. Sauer notified the relatives of the dpad man. She called up her sister, Mrs. E. Barger, at Pontiac, on
the long distance and the latter wired the relatives No word had been received from the latter this morning, but it was expected that some member ot the family would arrive during the day. The deceased was of a substantial family living just out of Pontiac and had been working for some time as head tester for the Oakland Automobile company, before he decided to accompany Dr. Sauer on his trip from Detroit, in his recently acquired automobile.
