The city has made wonderful progress since my visit a year ago. I am more than pleased with the steel plant. The work done by the land company Is to be complimented. Gleason, who had the special observation car with glass sides and top ready for the trip through the plant. A locomotive was attached and the visitors were whirled through a labyrinth of blast furnaces, screaming engines, ore docks, cumber

some machinery, molten metal and rolling mills. The whole thing was a novelty to the august secretary of the

treasury, whose idea of going through labyrinths was keeping the ship of state from going on the rocks at Washington. - Secretary McVeagh, who seemed to be bewlhJered at all he saw in the steel plant, was full 'of admiration for Gary. "It's certainly a wonderful city," declared he. "Your steel plant Is superlative and the rest of the city Is marvelous." -Not on Official Business. The cabinet official denied that he came" on a governmental mission. He said that his old friend Judge Gary had been constantly urging him to come and see his namesake so he took the opportunity of doing It. When the men in the party stepped down from the obserx-atlon car and walked through the rail mill Secretary McVeagh found it difficult to carry on his rapid fire conversation with Chairman Gary. He had to shout at the top of his voice and was kept eternally busy dodging the red hot raHs and machinery. .1

Relatives of Mr. and Mrs. Volleen planned a very pleasant surprise for them In honor of their fifteenth wedding anniversary. The evening was an enjoyable one and one to be remembered by those who were present. The evening was spent socially and a dainty luncheon was served and at a late hour the guests departed for their homes wishing Mr. and Mrs. Volleen many happy returns of the day. (Special to Thb Times.) Indiana Harbor, June 10. The . revival meeting now in progress at Indiana Harbor is not only attracting home people, but repersentatlves from various places. The woman preacher is the magnet that draws them, Hammond, Gary and Whiting have all been represented among her audiences. Whiting has been their practically every night. One night this week the delegation filled a good section of seats. Altogether hundreds have attended the series of meetings from Whiting, which only goes to show that Mrs. Trimble, has a large place In the hearts of" the "people that she has
