Happenings of a Day In Lake County's Lively Capital

Kf peepul 'ud only be a leedle more careful erbout bumpin' into th'hin end of th Erie trakis, the road 'ud never hev enny fatalities. Want New School. Steps win be taken this evening at a meeting of the town trustees and the school board. Immediately following the condemnation proceedings on the South Ward schoolhouse by Dr. Oberlin of Hammond, of the county board of health, yesterday, to devise some means to provide a new schoolhouse for Crown Point. Through the action of the state and county boards of health the members of the two local boards find themselves up against the proposition of solving . the question. It is believed that the balance of sentiment at the meeting tonight will be strongly In favor of a handsome and costly. 'new schoolhouse for Crown Point, meeting all the modern requirements of education, making it the principal school building of the town and one which its citizens can be justly proud of. It would be foolish at this time, now that the erection of a new building for school purposes Is compulsory, to expend money on anything that will be inadequate to the future demands of Crown Point, and as the town does not possess a Bchoolhouse meeting the modern requirements, such as model recitation rooms, auditorium, manual training sections, laboratories, etc.. It would seem the wisest plan to at this time make provisions in the new structure for the same, even If they could not be completed at this, time on account of a scarcity of funds, which seemn to be the main hue and cry at present. The question is a serious one and from the personnel of the two boards having It under consideration it Is not likely they will go far astray from the sentiment of the majority of Crown Point citizens that the town should have the best schoolhouse it can possibly afford. Play Chicago Athletics. The Crown Point baseball team will play the Chicago Athletics at the local park next unday, and as the visitors are -in the. same class as tha Cuban '"tars and Leland Giants the local team expect to have their hands full to win. The Hammond Athletics are after a game with Crown Point and no doubt a game will be arranged in the future, in which neutral grounds and officials will probably play an important part Ingredients of Ayer's Hair Vieor: Awt,i .,.., V
