GROWH POINT IS : ! 1 I HIGHLY INDIGNANT
(Special to The Times.) Crown Point, June 4. The action of the Gary officials In their opposition to the construction of the Gary and Southern lnterurban road has engendered nO small amount of 111 feeling in Crown Point and It is safe to say that should the occasion warrant that their attitude will be reciprocated by Crown Point citizens. The procedure of the last few days looks and smells bad and showg no small amount of bad faith, for It has always been Intimated by those In power in Gary that their entire support would b e forth coming In the event of a line being constructed between the county seat and Gary. That there Is an ulterlon motive and object In the opposition to the Seaman line and connection with Crown Point is readily seen and Its purpose known, .but whether it will be availing in the long run remains to be seen. Crown Point citizens are determined to secure lnterurban connections with the north end of the county, if not Gary, then with Hammond and it is , pafe to say that whichever city gets the connection will receive untold benefits in every way. The action of the Gary officials only delays and hampers .the ultimate building of the. road, en- , genders bad feeling and shows a spirit i held by a limited few in Gary which f floes not voice the sentiments of the ': ninety percent of the steel town's popu- ' latlon. : At best it is a high-handed profeeding and will reap its own reward. Gary is to have its seventh banking institution in the very near future. The new bank will be located in the south store-room of the Ohio "building, owned by Charles Mast of Cambridge, O., and plans are now being made to finish up the interior in elegant style and have the building completed by July 15. The names of the organizers and promoters of the new bank are not given out at the present time. It is understood that Mr. Mast, the owner of the building, . and a coterie of Ohiocapltaliats are heavily interested. Several prominent Gary business men have already agreed to subscribe stock in the new institution. Will Be a Savlaiea & Trust Co. The new bank will be incorporated as a savings and trust company and will probably have a capital of $50,000 at the outset. It will be dominated by Interests who control a chain of banks in the east. They were attracted to Gary In the first place on account of the great demand for loans, and as they have a large amount of surplus , funds at their disposal they expect to find a profitable field for their loans in Gary. I. on n B the Feature. The new Institution will be welcomed to the steel city as there Is a constant demand for loans owing to the large amount of building projects now going on. Although money is easier in Gary now than it has been for many months past there is no doubt that organizers will find an active field and the new institution will take a prominent place In Gary's financial circles. WHY DO SOME COMPANIES MAKE ADVERTISED RATES? LISTEN! Simply because they think that they can lead the public to deal with them, and not to stop and think why are they doing so, and what induced them, and what they are paying and above all, what they are receiving for their patronage. We do not advertise any rates, but a call on ub will set you to thinking before you go elsewhere. Let us Prove this. Companies that advertise Special Rates, such as $50.00 at 11.20 per week tor 50 weeks, or give you Rebate Special inducements, are showing that if they cannot get the business in one way, they will get it in another. We do not believe in this.' Why? Because "it is not a very desirable way of gaining one patronage, and above all, tends to mislead the public into propositions that are not on the square, and leaves them many dollars behind at the end. IN OUR BUSINESS OF LOANING MONEY ON HOUSEHOLD GOODS, PIANOS, HORSES AND WAGONS, WE TELL YOU TO THE CENT WHAT ANY AMOUNT OF MONEY WILL COST YOU; WHAT THE REBATE WILL BE FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME PAID IN ADVANCE, AND PROVE TO YOU BEYOND A DOUBT WE ARE THE CHEAPEST.
