Social News IN Hammond HOLD RKGl'LAR MEETING. The regular meeting of the members of Progressive Court No. 1S6 Tribe of Ben Hur took place last evening in the K. of P. hall. The routine business waa transacted and the evening was spent with final preparations for the May party to be given this eve'ning in Long's hall on State street. A cordial invitation to be present at the party is ex-, tended the public and it is expected that a nice sum will be realized for the benefit of the court. hostess at her home In Indiana avenue. There was a large attendance of young ladles at the meeting and they dis-' posed of the routine business early in the evening. Jt was decided to meet everv two weeks durln the remainder of the spring and summer instead of every Tuesday as the members have been doing in the past. The remainder of the evening was spent in an enjoyable social way with music and games after which the hostess served refreshments. All arrangements were not made for the next meeting last evening and the announcement will be made of the meeting place later. ENTERTAINS INFORMALLY. Miss Gertrude Herbst very informally entertained the young ladies of the N. N. Embroidery Club last evening at her home in South Hohman street. The party was one of the regular weekly meetings at which the young ladies embroider and spend the evening socially. Music-was one of the features of the evening until a late hour when a luncheon was served. The next party will be given at the home of Miss Klein in Conkey avenue Tuesday evening of next week. It was the regular bimonthly social meeting and the entire evening was devoted to the card games Several g.ames of pedro were played at small tables and the honors were won bv the hostess, Mrs. Schlaer, and Miss Mayme Schlaer, who substituted in Mrs. Heiser's absence, won the second honor. The consolation prize was awarded to Mrs. Fred Humpher. A dainty luncheon was served at the conclusion of the games. ANNOUNCE MENU. The choir of the First Christian church will serve a chicken pie supper next Saturday, May 21st, in the K. ol P. hall to which the public Is cordially invited. The proceeds will be used for the benefit of the choir and the members desire to clear a nice sum. The supper will be served between five and eight o'clock. A POSTPONED MEETING. The postponed meeting Of the mem bers of the W. C. T. U. will take place this afternoon at the home of Mrs. W. H. Meyers, the corner of Michigan and Oakley avenues. The meeting was anounced to take place on Tuesday, the regular meeting "day but for several reasons had to be postponed. A short temperance, program will be rendered nd there will also be a business ses sion. MEETING WAS POSTPONED. TWe young ladies of the Inetr Se Club decided to postpone the regular meet ing which was announced to take place last evening. Preparations will be made o have a party next Tuesday evening and announcement will be made of the place of meeting later. BRUMM-WOtP Xt-PTIALS. A very large and beautiful church wedding will take place this evening in the auditorium of St. Paul's Lutheran church in Clinton street when Miss Elizabeth Brumm, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Brumm of Clinton street and George "Wolf are united in marriage. The ceremony will be celebrated at 8 o'clock In the presence of a large as sembly of friends and relatives, many of whom will come from out of the city to be present. The Rev. Theodore Claus, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church will officiate and read the ring ceremony of the church. The bride's attendants will include Miss Ethel "Wolf, who will serve as "maid of honor, and Miss Henrietta Lovegren, of Rockford, 111., who will be the only bridesmaid. Little Miss Hazel Wolf will serve as ring' bearer. Arthur Borman and T, Lewis will attend the groom. WHIST PARTY IS II GRAND SUCCESS

About 100 ladies attended the whist party in Gary, given by the Jewish Ladies Benevolent society yesterday afternoon. Assembly hall, among whom were & large number of visitors from Ham mond, East Chicago and Indiana Harbor. The proceeds for the event were reserved for the starting of the movement toward the establishment of a tuberculosis colony In Lake county. During the afternoong whist and 500 were played by the ladies, and several beautiful prises were given away. The society was well pleased with the attendance in 'the face of the constant rain during the afternoon. Besides the cards. Miss Cecelia Kirk played two selections from ' Schuman and was presented with a beautiful bouquet of American beauty roses. Refreshments, consisting of ice crea mand cake, were served during the afternoon. The prize winners were as follows: Whist 1. Mrs. Thomas, East Chicago. 2. Mrs. E. E. Evans, Garv. 3. Mrs. A. F. H. Pannenborg, of Chi cago Heights, 111. HOLD REGl'LAR MEETING. The regular meeting of the members of the True Kindred took place last evening in I. O. O. F. hall on State street. The routine business was trans acted after which there was a short social session. There were several grand officers from Chicago In attend ance at the meeting. ATTEND WHIST PARTY. About nineteen Hammond ladies members of the Jewish Ladles Aid Society responded to the Invitation sent out a few weeks ago to be present at a whist party given in Gary yesterday under the auspices of the Jewish Ladies Benevolent Siciety. There were others from Hammond who attended the party and guests were also present from the other cities in the district. It is re ported that a large sum was realized which will be used for a fund for tubercular colony in Lake county. A large number of prizes were awarded after the close of the afternoon's games and three of the prizes were won by adies in the Hammond society. The prizes were all very handsome and wre -donated by friends of the society in Gary. The Hammond ladies spent very delightful social time. PERSONAL. Mr. and Mrs. Saylor Long, Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Miss Marlon Adler has returned to her home in Merrlllville after a few days' visit with Hammond friends and relatives. Gavit, the county chairman, met in the Hammond city hall this afternoon to talk over the situation and decide on a date for the holding of the couty convention. Mr. Gavit when asked for the purpose of the meeting said that it was called to talk over the time ag to the holding of the county convention.
