solo. Their numbers on the program were very enjoyable. Mrs. Charles "Wilson opened the program by reading a
paper on the "IJfe of Sir Gilbert Parker." The paper showed a very careful study of the subject and Mrs. Wilson also brought with her several pictures she had collected, among them one of Sir Gilbert . Parker, another of Mrs. Parker and one of their home. Mrs. Wilson also gave one of the stories of the book "Pierre and His People." Mra W. . J. McAleer read the second of the short stories. Mrs. Jeanle Sawyer read a very interesting paper on the. "Scenery in Canada," where the 'plot of the story was laid, which was very enjoyable. A short discussion followed and
the remainder of the afternoon was spent socially. The next meeting will
not take place for two weeks.

AX EASTER BAZAAR. The members of the Northside Ladies club will hold their annual Easter bazaar. Thursday, March 24, in the parlors of the First Congregational church. A cordial invitation to attend is extended the members and their friends, as many fancy and" useful articles have been prepared for the sale. The ladies desire to clear a neat sum as the proceeds will be used for the benefit of the church. The sale will open at 2 o'clock and continue during the remainder of the afternoon and evening. During the evening the ladies will serve dainty refreshments.

AN INTERESTING MEETING. A very interesting meeting of the members of the literature committee of the Hammond Womna's club took place yesterday afternon at the home of Mrs. Harry Voight in Williams street. It was the regular bi-monthly study meeting and a large number of members were in attendance. Mrs. Charles Wilson was chairman of the program committee for the day and the study subject was , "Pierre and His People," by Sir Gilbert Parker. The program was a

day, March 29, although the place of meeting has not been decided. A public meeting will also be held next Monday evening, March 28, at Wels hall on State Btreet and a large attendance is desired. A lecture will be arranged for

Mrs. W. F. Bridge has returned to her home In Warren street after an extended visit in the east. Mrs. Bridge has been visiting relatives in Scranton, Pa., for several weeks where she was called
by the illness of her sister.
