home of Mr. and Mrs.Frank bhine, l Doty street. Their daughter, Miss Fannie Shine, was hostess at the meeting and entertained very pleasantly. About twenty-five or thirty young people were present and spent the 1 evening with various games and contests. In the principal contest of the evening the honors were awarded to John Rhind. Eureka camp No. 5,054, Modern Woodmen, held a big meicg last night in the State Street Masonic temple building, the occasion having been the initiation of a class of ten new members. Six of these came from Gary

in a special car, accompanied by about twenty lodge brethern, while the oth

er four were Hammond men. The meeting was one of a number of large ones that have been held recently. The Hammond Commandary is already making arrangements for a big public Easter service to be held on the afternoon of Easter Sunday at the Masonic temple. An effort is being made to secure a good speaker for the oc

casion, and invitations will be issued

to the various churches to attend. Ev

ery effort wijl be put forth to make the affair as elaborate as the circumstances

will permit.

The Blue lodge will hold a meeting tomorrow evening, and will do work in either the first or second degrees

upon a number of candidates.

The Chapter held a regulars-meeting last evening and conferred the Mark

Master legree upon four candidates. The Chapter will hold a special meeting next Wednesday night to confer the Mark Master degree upon five candidates and the Past Master degree upon nine candidates. Court Luers, c. O. F., reports a splendid progress in securing new candidates for its lodge. Applications for membership are read at every meeting. The court feels itself greatly indebted to the Rev. E. F. Barrett of All Saints' church for his assistance in building up the membership.
