Remonstrators are being heard today in the circuit court at Crown Point against the Broadway extension from the present city limits of the city of Gary to the town of Merrillville. which la known as Norton road. The remonstances are based on the cost of the construction of this road. The case went to trial yesterday and will probably continue throughout today. The case is important for If the remonstrances are overruled the street constructed will give Gary access to the county seat by road.

Val Brown of "Whiting won the twomile race at the East Chicago rink last night. in the moat exciting finish of the season. John Brock of oSuth Chicago took the lead early in the race, but Brown headed him on the last lap, winning amid a frenzy of cheering. '
