IrnilarrapollB. Ind., Feb. 5. Governor
Marshall and Burt New, his legal clerk,
seem to have struck a snag in their efforts- to rout the poolrooms from the
state. It was said yesterday after
noon that the governor was considering some new plan for routing the
poolroom and that he would abandon 1 the suits which had been filed in the Clark county court. This report, however, was not verified. It seems that the poolroom men are getting ready to contest the suit in the Clark county court and that they will base their contest on the definition of a nuisance. In the complaint filed by the state against the Cumberland. Telephone and Telegraph company It was affirmed that the poolroom was a nuisance and an injunction and & receiver was asked for. ' Not Within the Statute. - The attorneys for the poolroom men, it is said, will contend that the pool
room is ' not a nuisance, as they will hold that it does not come within the definition given in the statutes, which is to the effect that a nuisance is whatever is Injurious to the health, lndetent, or offensive to the senses, or an

this structure, which is built of "brick and stone, .was occupied by two families. Mrs. Robinson, one of the occupants of the upper floor, declared to Assistant Fire Chief Doherty that she had heard pounding in the store until
1 a. m., but Mr. Goldblatt declared that if there was pounding there he was at a loss to know who had ben doing it. Goldblatt paid $1,300 for his partner's share in the business when he bought him out and claims he put 1,000 into new stock since. He carried $4,200 insurance on his stock, the policy, which expires Feb. 15, being that taken out on the stock when it was the property ,of the Harbor Clothing company before Fien and Goldblatt bought it out. The insurance is in companies represented by C. E. Fowler and ."W. B. Van- Horhe.- ; The third alarm came in at 11:25

(Special to Tim Times.) Indiana Harbor, Ind., Feb. 5. The
fires in Indiana Harbor go merrily on, three, all more or less disastrous to property, having taken place between early yesterday morning and last midnight. The losses aggregate about $5,000 at a . conservative estimate, and their locations were as follows: . ! One-story frame building at 3440-42 Pennsylvania avenue, owned by Margaret Lewis of Hammond. Damage, $1,500. Flat building, two-story frame, at 3904 Watling street, owned by Charles Martin of Gary. .Loss, $700. Jacob Frank building, two-story brick store and flat, in Michigan avenue near Block. Damage, $300. Balance Is Distributed. The balance of the losses were distributed" among the occupants .of the
buildings in which the fires occurred,

the fire was first discovered, out of the
window. Thus all chance of a second explosion was averted. The firemen did quick work and managed to save the main part of the building, but the roof and attic story of the structure was destroyed and Harrington's furniture was completely ruined by smoke and water, while the furniture of the Moenchs was consid
erably damaged. Harrington had no Insurance on his furniture. Another Call Comes. ' Scarcely had the firemen returned from putting out this fire when an
other alarm came in. .This was about 4 o'clock in the morning and the alarm J came from the Jacob Frank building
in Michigan avenue, near Block. This Is occupied on -the lower floor by Henry Goldblatt, who conducts a clothing store there. The firm up to' a short time ago was . known as Goldblatt and Fien, but recently Fien sold out to his partner, who has been the sole proprietor ever since. The fire department were stretching their hose when the second alarm was received, and fortunately had put another supply of dry hose on the wagon, so no delay was experienced in making the start for the second flre. The blaze was located in the rear of the store and on breaking in the rear door it was discovered that the entire rear end of the store was in flames. The rear end is partitioned off and there is a bed in the apartment, which, how
ever, was not occupied at the time. Mr. Goldblatt had gone into Chicago at 9:30
sleeping in it at the time the fire broke
out. - The building until last fall was occupied by the Monarch Hardware
company, which has since gone into its own building in Michigan avenue. The fires all created a great deal of excitement in the neighborhoods in which they occurred.

At one expense with one effort, it solves a problemperfects a system tests, and adopts or rejects an invention or innovation; and the result serves for all its companies.
