The presentation of the cantata of, "Queen Esther by the choir ef the Episcopal church at the Towle Opera House tonight will be a social and musical event of considerable Importance in this city. The ' choir of this church has been preparing this cantata for several
weeks, and it is understood that it is to be rendered as perfectly as is possible with amateur talent. Hammond, music lovers, however, need iio introduction to this musical organization, of which M. F. Church is president, Henry Conkey Is- treasurer and Mrs. C Klingensmith is secretary. The choir maintains the music for Sunday and the occasional services of the church and seeks to study and present to the public of Hammond dignified music of superior quality.

given last evening In All Saints' hall on East Sibley street, to which the public was cordially invited. There wa a large attendance at the party considering the disagreeable weather and the many other social attractions. Seven games of pedro were played at small tables in the hall and the prizes for the evening were awarded to Mrs. Adelia Hasse and Mr. O'Toole. The consolation prizes were won by Mrs. C. P. Burgman and Mr. Lawyyer. A very pleasant social time was passed.
