those who are said to employ the dynamiting gang. The American Bridge company and the King Bridge company of Cleveland, O., are among the concerns that are believed to have suffered most heavily. The methods pursued by the dynamiters in blowing up cars loaded with objectionable steel girders has been

ADDRESS WITH REMITTANCE
(Special to Thb Times.) Indiana Harbor, Ind., Jan. 24. Indiana Harbor is Interested In the explo
sion at South Chicago, which partially destroyed two carloads of iron girders on a side track of the .Lake Shore & Michigan Southern railroad at Eightyninth street Saturday night. The local interest in the incident Is supplied by the fact that the birders were manufactured by the McClintlckMarshall company, which some time ago bousrht. fifty acres of land, on -the
canal west of the Pennsylvania; tracks; this city, and the explosion .is alleged to be one of a series of attempts to de- ! stroy the property of this concern. Took PliW! In Spring. It -vdill be remembered that last spring a similar circumstance .happened in . Indiana Harbor- when, the last , of the Lake Shore , bascule bridges over the canal was being- erected. At that
time four carloads of . structural ; iron was blown up by a bomb' which had presumably been placed there by dynamiters in a -spirit of revenge because of -labor-troubles- in which the Mc-Clintic-Marshall Construction company is involved. The police of Chicago have been notified of the alleged systematic efforts of professional dynamiters to destroy the property of the concern, now located in
Pittsburg, and are going to make a
thorough investigation. They are not
unfamiliar with the situation, and, it is said, have already ascertained that the leaders of the hired gang, employed tofollow up th McClintlc-Marshall

anff Hubbard -court. Assistant Chief of Police Schuettler declares that he has known of fhe existence of the gang for some time, and that on one occasion he caused the "arrest of one. of its chief members upon suspicion of having been implicated in the attempted dynamiting of a bridge at West Thirty-eighth street and Cen
ter avenue and the murder of Jeremiah Lynch, a watchman employed at the bridge. Other bridge building concerns have had costly experiences with .the dynamiters, and it is said that their operations are directed against any company that will not submit to th terms of
COUNCIL
SESSION A SHORT ONE
It was rumored that several drays were
chartered for the pupose of -backing up
to their front doors and carrying away the liquor'which they had for sale. The fact that the previous grand Jury and
the subsequent quashing of most of the Indictments had relieved the serious aspect of that situation, lept them confidence enough so that most of the proprietors have laid away large quan.
titles of their stock without fear of molestation. It seems, however, as if they had forgotten the fact that Judge
McMahan had promised another Investigation of even a wider scope than
the first. It was also rumored that many of the
blind pig keepers who were practically
irresponsible would take advantage of
the present spring-like weather to take a sojourn to other parts of the country.
As far as is known, however, none of them purchased tickets for other parts
last night.
The session of the Gary council this
evening is expected to be very short,
owing to the fact that the members are
desirous of being present at the Burns
banquet of the St. Andrews' society and hear what Governor Marshall has to
say about Gary.
It was intended that the measure for the annexation of Miller should be presented at this session, of the
council, but owing to the fact that they
will have but little time for its conaideraion it may be postponed a week
The routine business will take up all
of the spare time until they are forced
to adjourn. The ordinance for the annexation of Miller, which is supposed to be fathered by Council M. N. Castleman, has been given so little publicity owing to Mr. Castleman's reticence In giving out for publication his plans for the extension of Gary, that the majority of the councilmen have been unable to Judge the general sentiment towards this move of the general community. It was also Intended that ordinance
Xo. 3, concerning the salaries of the
members of the board of health, would be introduced tonight, but this also may be postponed a week. It is now a certainty that they will not receive $300 per year, as they have previously asked, and a compromise may be reached on this point before another ordinance has been prepared for Introduction.
