Jones' ambulance to the hotel. Late
this morning she was taken to Mercy hospital, where she will be cared for. Miss Pruger Is 17 years old and has ben In Gary for three years, where she is quite well known. Albert Stahl, 48 years old, a wellknown property owner of Tolleston, suffered a similar fate Thursday after
noon while cleaning off the roof of his residence in that city. The recent thaw
had caused the snow water to seep through the roof and' It was to stop this that he attempted to. sweep off he
remainder of the snow. He suddenly slipped and was precipitated to the frozen ground. Mr. Stahl was removed
to the Mercy hospital.
Several other minor injuries due to
the snow and ice which has been al

LOOKING FOR BIG YEAR
Expect No Trouble Whatever in Beaching a Harmonious Settlement.
An Important meeting of the Employers, Builders & Material Men's association Yias been called for this afternoon, at which time labor contracts and agreements will be signed for the coming season which will forever stcii strikes In Gary building. It is. not known at this time just what points are In dispute between the building trades union and the contractors, but It is of great importance that the unions and contractors reach
some settlement as the present year will be unprecedented In the history
of Gar- in the -way of building.
Duting the past week the various
buildings and trades councils and ar
bitration committee of the Employers, Builders & Mattrlal Men's association
have prepared an agreement which has been put to referendum vote and It is looked upon as favorable and It Is to be referred back to these committees
for ratification this afternoon.
It is said the points in dispute be
tween the unions and the contractors is of a minor nature and there will be
no trouble in reaching a settlement. If
the agreement is ratified and signed
J this afternoon It will mean all strikes
can be averted by a settlement of all
difficulties before the arbitration com

various times had been employed as a teamster for T. J. Gormley, the local liveryman. His relatives are supposed to live in some part of Michigan and he is believed to be a single man.
The cutter was broken Into kindling
wood and the valuable horse was
killed-and thrown to the right of the road. Blood stained pieces of kindling wood were found scattered along the
track almost as far as the remains of the man. The horse and rig were valued at $500 by the owner, T. J. Gormley.
Mr. Gormley stated that the rig was
rented during the afternoon from one of his employes by a woman, who it was afterward discovered is an inmate In the place conducted by Frank Bough
on Madison street. The woman and McDonald were known to have been
very intimate. At various times during
the afternoon McDonald and the woman were sren hilariously driving up and
down the street. When and where'she
left the cutter Is not known, but it is believed that McDonald was bound for her establishment when he was killed. There is reason to believe that' they
had been drinking during the afternoon and this is thought to have contributed to the accident. Williams was picked up by McDonald who profered him a "lift" on his way home.

The Inquest will have to develop
whether his death was due to the falj
which he sustained or whether he died
of heart failure. Tom went t6 the basement last night carrying a lantern with him, his object having been to look after the furnace. Mrs. JJ WT. McKee, the wife of the proprietor of the hotel, heard Tom fall down the steps and summoned her husband. Mr. McKee went to the stairway and found that the lantern had been extlngushed In the fall, and Tom was lying at the foot of the stairway with his head on the cement floor and his feet on the two first steps. He was unable to talk, having been unconscious. - He was bleeding profusely from the mouth, although there was no evidence of external inJury. Dr. Petrie was summoned immediately and medical attention given the dy-

erward. The body was removed , to Jones' "morgue where the Inquest will "be held this afternoon. While Tom was known to many pepple of Tolleston, little Is known about his antecedents. He was quiet In his
manner and quite regular in his habits. Prior to coming to Tolleston, Tom was employed at the Aetna powder mills, but when work slacked up there he was laid off.
