NEWS OF THE COUNTY SEAT
The Library Bazaar. The ladies of the Library Guild (Tou all know who they are), lave labored long and steadfast V to hold their big bazaar. Now everything Is finished And this evening you will see The- results of all their handiwork At the Crown Point Library. And not for fame or credit Have they filled up all the nooks With the very best of Christmas gifts. But simply to buy books. So take your walletoskl And follow the beaten track. Remembering that each cent you spend. In books you'll get It back. Carnegie gave the building. The guild has made the duds. For every kind of Chritsmas gift.
..Get busy buy thslr goods. J Communioated. Tonight at Crown Point Public library building at 7:80 sharp.
Unclaimed Letters. The following letters remain In the Crown Point postofflce, unclaimed: Hon. Issac Cutter, John Henry Kell, Mr. Adam Sutter, Mrs. Georgia Turner, Miss Elsie Warren, Mr. John Walters and Mr. S. H. Wilson.
Jake Neiner received a bad fall at his home yesterday afternoon that
rendered him unconscious for at least ten minutes and made the calling of
physicians necessary. He was de
cending the stairway at his home when he accidentally slipped and fell to the floor below, sustaining quite severe injuries and bumping that he will not forget for some time to come. Crown Point will send one or two
representatives to the Indian Society banquet la Chicago tomorrow evening, but none from here have a place on the program. That the function will be enjoyable goes without saying ae these yearly meetings of the Indiana society are becoming renowned over the whole land for the spirit of good fellowship and the honest, loyal Hoosler spirit which prevade the atmosphere. The Indoor baseball team has received a challenge from the Hammond Athletic association team for a series of games and Captain Swartz has practically accepted the conditions and possibly two games will be played later in the season. The Crown Point team has Just organized and considerable practice will have to be done before a public exhibition of their ability at the sport is given. With welve communities after the
Cobe and Indiana trophy races willing
to guarantee a good speedway and
railroad facilities with possibly a
cash bonus to the promoters. Crown
Point's chances look rather slim for
a return of the classic event next
year, as no conoerted action has been
taken to influence the promoters to favor the last year's course for the holding of the net race. Crown Pointers do not seem to be especially worked up over the proposition and we may lose thetrun by default. The city got plenty of advertising, but lots of Crown Point citizens after reading the garbled accounts of the race and conditions here last summer are asking themselves If such advertising pays. Possibly we would be hot after the race If the Chicago papers would lock up their reporters until after the event Is over. Thb TrMBS" article regarding better fire-fighting facilities for Crown Point was widely read and commented upon last evening and' the consensus of opinion seemed to be that the right chord had been struck, and the remedy given, acceptable. The question Is a serious one, worthy of earnest consideration and If the article has been
accomplished this week it will have
fulfilled its mission. Do we need better fire-fighting facilities? Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gosch of Mil
waukee were Crown Plont visitors yes. terday. The Inmates of the county Jail are especially happy that ero weather days are here, and anyone visiting the bastile would think It a meeting ot the Sunshine club. Hot water, hot-air and the meals makes an optimlstlo crowd. The Hazard club will be entertained at the home of Mrs. M. Rockwell on Monday afternoon. "Thorns and Orange Blossoms" will be the next attraction at Central Music hall, billed for tomorrow evening. The
title is self-explanatory and Manager1
Lehman guarantees the attraction.
