A Frog jumps readily enough wheft put in warm water, yet a frog can be boiled without a movement if the water 13 heated slowly enough. In a psychological experiment at Yale University the water was heated at the rate of .0036 of a degree a second, Fahrenheit. The frog never moved, and at the end of two and one-half hours, was found dead. Hehad evidently been boiled to death without knowing it. There are hundreds or business frogs.

They Are Not Sensitive of Business Changes

The evolution irom the old method to the new, bright, advertising way has not startled them-- they die a slow business death-

The merchant who doesn't advertise today is being boiled to death, and the bright attractive printing that: we are doing for his competitors is the water that is doing for him what the frog got at Yale.

MORAL5

Don't be a frog; use a little printing ink.

8ABY GOT A LITTLE BIT OFHEBniG My, How the Wintry Blasts Blew from the Lake Yesterday. A "little bit of everything" was what

the weather man handed out to Gary yesterday, and before the day was over its citizens knew they had tasted of the four seasons of the year. There was a general hurry up call for overcoats and heavy wraps and from all reports many were caught napping and had to be satisfied with a "several years' back" creation. For the poor It was a dismal Sunday. The deather took a decided turn about 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon after several hours of downpour and drizzling ra In. -, The mercury then gradually sank in the tube and the first snow of the season took place. It was then that the wind turned to the north and the biting blasts continued throughout the evening and night. . So heavy was the gale that biew in Gary that several persons were seen to be swept off their feet around windy corners, and hats were blown oft and sent rolling down the street. The streets were comparatively de- , serted all day except for the general traffic of mill workers, who hurried to and from the mills in the biting winds. In the afternoon but few people ven

tured out and those who did did not tarry long in neighborly conversations, but hurried on about their business. Those who did not have to come ont sought the nice cozy corners of their horr.e. Today the coal man has been besieged with orders for fuel, and the hardware men are doing a big business in stoves and small heaters. The, sudden change of weather from the comparatively mild weather .of the past monthy caught many people napping, and they had to suffer as a result.
