Mrs. Weiland will be remembered as a sister of Mrs. Leonard Elster. A IIAKVKST IJA.XCK. The members of the XonDariel club entertained at a very delightful danc ing: party last Wednesday evening at which there was a verv larze attend ance of members and invited friends from Hammond, East Chicago, Indiana Tfarbor. South Phiraern find drRSselll. The hall was decorated very attrac tively with autumn foliage, corn stalks and fall prdoucts. Above the the windows the letters N. P. C were hung in corn and presented a very pretty appearance. Dancing was en joyed until a late hour, a program of sixteen dances being arranged for the evening. The party was one of the very pleasant social functions of the winter and the young people will ar range for several other entertainments for the winter. COOK-PEA RY ESTEHTAIXMEST. The Sunday school scholars of the First Methodist church are earnest In inviting all their friends to buy tickets to the Cook-Peary trip to the north pole. It is certain that the enter tainment will be both Interesting and instructive and a large audience is ex pected. It will be on Wednesday even ing, Nov. 2 4. The lecture by Dr. lie Loed will be of the very best. HERMAN' BERLIN BETTER. Mr. Herman Berlin of 459 Kane ave nue, who has been confined In the Deo coness hospital in Chicago for a num ber of weeks, is improving very slow ly, but will not be able to return home for some time. Jlis many friends will be glad to learn of his convalescence. REALIZE A NEAT SUM. The supper given by the German M. E. church Ladies' Aid society last even ing at the church parlors, 258 Truman avenue, was a great success In every respect. A neat sum will be realized, which will help diminish a standing church debt. Complimentary expressions were given to the ladles by many friends for the splendid supper and the largo number attending were well received. The articles placed on sale in the different fancy booths sold well. over one hundred being disposed of with twenty-five to thirty articles still in stock at 260 Truman avenue. We, the undersigned, wish in the name of the ladies of the church and Aid society, German M. E. church, 258 Truman avenue, to most heartily thank our friends and the public for their cooperative spirit in so large a number that attended our bazaar and supper given last evening. MRS. E. Jewell and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Shea attended the theater in Chicago last evening. AN ENJOYABLE MEETING. Mrs. Peter Austgen was hostess to the hostess to the members of Sewing Circle No. 2 of St. Margaret's hospital yesterday afternoon at her home In Douglas street. The usual number of members were In attendance and spent a pleasant social time in conversation and card games. Stevenson received first honors, Mrs. George M Eder second and Mrs. Fox was award ed the consolation prize. A DELIGHTFUL PARTY. A very pleasant afternoon was spent by the members of the No-Name club yesterday at the home, of Mrs. John Rohrman in East State street. Mrs. Rohrman entertained for her daughter. Miss Anna, who is a member of the lub. It was. the regular club meet ing and all the members were pres et. The guests spent a very enjoy able afternoon in the usual way of the club with card games. Several games f pedro were played at small tables and the prizes for the afternoon were awarded to Mrs. Charles Luthman, Mrs. W. L. Keyser and Mrs. John Rohrman. The consolation prize was given to Mrs. Harry Dorten. At the close of the games the afternoon was spent In con versation and music until 5 o'clock when the hostess served a daintily arranged course luncheon in the dining room. The next party will be given in two weeks and Mrs. F. A. Bull will enertain at her home in State street. AN EMBROIDERY CMB. Mrs. E. J. Campbell very pleasantly ntertalned a small company of friends yesterday afternoon at her home in Truman avenue for the purpose of organizing a social club. The club mem bership will be limited to the nine la dies of the neighborhood and the club will be known as the Neighborhood club. The meetings will be held regu larly every two weeks at the homes of the various members and many very pleasant times are anticipated. The afternoon, yesterday, was spent with embroidery work and at 4:D0 o'clock, a daintily arranged three course luncheon was served. ENTERTAINS INFORMALLY. Miss Carrie Delaney informally en tertained a few friends last evening at the home of her sister, Mrs. Fletcher Hudson in West Sibley street. During the. evening the young ladies decided to organize a social club and meet regularly at the homes of the members. The organization was completed with the exception of naming the clur which will be done at one of the future meetings. An enjoyable time was spent with games, music and social conver satlon until a late hour when a dainty luncheon was served. The following young ladies were guests: Misses Lois Hickey, Edith and Bertha Dorraan, Hazel Cotton, Mable Smith and Carrie Delaney. HOLD REGULAR MEETING. The regular meeting of the members of the Christian Endeavor Society of the German Evangelical church occur red last evening. The routine bust ness was disposed of and a short so cial hour followed. RETURNS HOME TODAY. Mrs. J. P. Relnleln and little daugh ter left today for their homo in Toledo O., after a few weeks' visit with Mrs. Reinlein's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jo seph Yaeger of State Line street. Mrs. Relnleln 'will be remembered as Miss Clara Yaeger, formerly of Hammond, MRS. AVINCKLER A HOSTESS. Mrs. Richard Winckler Is pleasantly entertaining the members of the Alpha Plil club this afternoon at her home In Muenleh court. It Is the regular meet ing of the club members and it was expected that several will attend. A pleasant social time will be spent with embroidery work. HOLD REGULAR, MEETING. The usual business will be disposed of in the early afternoon and the remainder of the time will be spent with a temperance program. PARENTS' CLUB MEETS. The members of the Parents' club of the Riverside school are meeting in the school hall this afternoon for a social ession. An enjoyable program has been arranged by the committee and the chil dren of the grades will take part. An Invitation to attend was extended all the members and their friends. RETURNS FROM TRIP. Mr. Leonard Elster of East Sibley street has returned to Hammond from Indianapolis where he attended the I. O. O. F. grand lodge as a delegate from Moltke lodge of this city. ABLE TO SIT UP. Little Miss Vergene Hammond, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ham mond of Mason street, who has been very ill with typhoid fever for the past seven weeks is recovering nicely and was able to sit up for a short while today for the first time. She is still under the care of a professional nurse. ATTEND HAMMOND PARTY. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Beirlger of Griffith were in Hammond last evening to attend the party given by the members of the Columbia League. VISITS RELATIVES. Mr. Elmer Kelly spent Wednesday visiting her sister at her home in Miller Station. A SHORT VISIT. Mi.s Lulu Johnson was the guest of her sister, Mrs. Silas Sheerer at her home in East Chicago Wednesday even ing. VISITS IN HAMMOND. Mrs. Mahaney of Cleveland, O., is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Mahaney at their home in Clude street for a few weeks. IS REPORTED ILL. Miss Iva Slneoke is reported to be quite 111 at her home in East Sibley street. Her friends hope for her recov ery at an early date. A PLEASANT PARTY. A very pleasant meeting of the members of the Acme Social club occurred yesterday and Mrs. C. G. Bonner entertained at "her home in Indiana avenue. The party was arranged for this week on account of the regular meeting dsy occurring on Thanksgiving day. AH

They spent a very pleasant social time in conversation, and music and a progressive peanut game afforded pleasant entertainment during the evening. The guests played at small tables In the parlors and several games were played before the prizes were awarded. Miss Mary Krost and Mr. Will Humpher received the first honors. At the close of the evening the hotsesses served a dainty three course luncheon.
