Mrs. George Bradt of East State street Is spending a few days with relatives in South Bend, Ind. ESTEBTAISS FRIENDS. Mrs. Frances Kingsley will entertain the members of the N. P. Whist club at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil S. Reiter in Webb street this evening. A very pleasant social evening will be spent playing whist. A W EEK-EXD VISIT. Miss Eunice Meikle, who is attending the Downer Seminary at Milwaukee, will spend the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Meikle, of South Hohman street. MRS. BULL A HOSTESS. Mrs. Fred A. Bull will entertain the members of the S. S. Pedro club next Thursday evening at her home in State street. The evening will be devoted to cards and the members anticipate a pleasant time. MEETING WAS POSTPONED. The meeting of the ladies of the Colonial club, which was announced to take place yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Clark Learning in South Hohman street, was postponed for another week. Mrs. Learning will entertain one afternoon next week and a pleasant time Is anticipated. ENTERTAINS AT CARDS. The guests met for social conversa tion and music, after which cards were a feature of entertainment. Several games of whist were played at small tables In the parlors. Flor ence Ixveridge, and Bertha Hansen, Messrs. Will Hastings, John GafCney, Jesse Ryan, E. B. Stiles, Ed McMahon, Roscoe Hemstock, J. Pulliam Smith, Leslie Parry and Joe Lyons. IS REPORTED ILL. Mrs. A. D. Crisman is reoorted to be quite ill at her hofe in Truman avenue. Her friends hope for her entire recovery at an early date. A PLEASANT MEETING. A very pleasant meeting of the mem bers of the Acme Social club took place yesterday afternoon and Mrs. Barney Kenny entertained at her home in Indiana avenue. It was the regular club meeting and all tho members were present. Mr. Kenny had as her invited guests, Mrs. Carey of Oswego, N. T., and Mrs. McGowan. The guests met Informally for conversation and music and later played cards at small tables. After several gafes of pedro the honors for the afternoon were awarded to Mrs. Kenny and Mrs. C. P. Burgman. The hostess served a dainty course luncheon at the close o the games. The next party will be given in two weeks and Mrs. Nolan will entertain at her home In East Sibley street. HERE FOR THE DAY. Mrs. Byron Burge and grand-daugh ter. Miss Lillle Burge of Merrlllville are spending the day visiting relatives in Hammond. They are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Burga of Carroll street. Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Stiver and Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Gero of May street.. AS ALL-DA V SESSION. An enjoyable meeting of the members of the Deborah Aid Society of the First Christian church occurred yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Goodell in Hickory street. There was a very good attendance of members and they spent the entire day quilting and sew ing for the benefit of the church and society. At 1 o'clock a luncheon was served and a pleasant hour was spent in conversation. The ladles will meet again next Thursday afternoon and Mrs. Scott will be hostess at her home In Ash street. It is desired that many members be present. AN AFTERNOON PARTY. A very pleasant afternoon party was given yesterday at which Mrs. Max Schmidt entertained the members of the Fern Leaf Linen club at her home In SJth Hohman street. All the members were present and they spent the afternoon In the usual enjoyable way of the club with card games. Several games of pedro were played and the honors at the party were given to Mrs. F. A. Bull and Mrs. T. F. McKee. The consolation prtzo was awarded to Mrs. Henry Burge. The remainder of the aft ernoon was spent socially in conversa tlon and music until 5 o'clock when the hostess served a dainty course luncheon .The next party will be given in two weeks and Mrs. E. J. Seeley will entertain. HISTORY COMMITTEE TO MEET. The hltsory committee of the Hammond Woman's club will hold its next meeting Monday afternoon. Oct. 18th at tho home of Mrs. Henry Burke, 28 Carroll street. Mrs. W. II. GoPtlln will be the leader for the day and fine has arranged a most delightful program. The day will undoubtedly be one of the most interesting and instructive of the study year from the fact that those taking part have each spent a week in the Yellowstone National Park. The following program will be given: Piano Solo Mrs. P. J. Lyons. Paper: "The History of the Yellowstone National Park, its Animals, Fish and Birds" Mrs. O. A. Krlnbill. ! Paper: "Forests and Flowers'' Mrs. C. W. Campbell. A meeting of the members of Court of Honor, No. 314, was held in the old Masonic temple on State street last evening. There was a good attendance of members and several visiting members from Chicago were also present. Mr. Holdrldge and Mr. Hay ward, managers of the Chicago court, were among the guests of honor. There was no meeting of the members of tho Silver Leaf club yesterday on account of the illness of the hostess, Mrs. A. D. Crisman. Announcement will be made later of the next club party and a pleasant time will be arranged. A BUSINESS MEETING. An important business meeting of the members of the Martha Aid society of the First Christian church was held yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Evans in Carroll street. It was the regular weekly .meeting, but a large attendance of members was desired as important business had to be disposed of. Plans were made to give a New England supper and bazar Saturday evening, Nov. 6, In the K. of P. hall. The serving hours will continue between 6 and 8 o'clock and booths will be attractively arranged wiere fancy and useful aprons and handkerchiefs will be on hale. The ladies desire to .clear a neat sum to be used for the benefit of the new church building fund. At the close of the busness meeting yesterday the hostess served dainty refreshments. A CLin PARTY. Mrs. Cook very pleasantly entertained the ladies of the Fleur-de-Lis club yesterday afternoon at her home in Flummer avenue. It was the regular cluh rnrtv and all the members were present.
