The members of the Ladies" Aid So ciety, of the First Baptist church met yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs, James Fox i rx Williams street for a very pleasant meeting. It was the first regular meeting after a long summer vacation and there was not as large an attendance f members as had been expected. Plans were discussed for the giving of a social in the near fu ture, but the date was not decided upon. Other business or importance to the members was discussed and the remainder of the afternoon was-spnt socially. The hostess served dainty re freshments. The next regular meet ing will occur ln two weeks and Mrs. Burk will entertain at her home in 1 Truman avenue. It is desired that all' the members be present. There were two guests at the meeting yesterday, j Mrs. Hoyt and her daughter. Miss. Hoyt, of Baraboo, Wis. LEAVES OX A VISIT. Mrs. Fhillipps of Plummer avenue ex pects to leave the first of next week for points in Missouri to be the guest i of friends and relatives for a few weeks. A 1'I.EAJAXT MEET1XG. A very enjoyable meeting of the members of the Martha Aid Society of the First Christian church took place yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Colville ln Doty street. It was the regular weekly meeting of the members and several were ln attendance. The routine business was disposed of early in the afternoon and plans were also completed for a fish fry, which the society will give next Thursday evening ln Weis" hall on State street. A very pleasant social time followed when the hostess served dainty refreshments. Another meeting will be held next Wednesday afternoon and Mrs. Will Lasch will entertain at her home in Plummer avenue. LEAVES ON A VISIT. Mrs. Nellie Bicknell Dunham of Rimbach avenue expects to leave Hammond next Tuesday for Freeport, La., to spend several weeks the guest of friends there. She anticipates a most enjoyable trip. rVISITS IN HAMMOND. Miss Helen Hyde of Ravenswood has been spending a few days at the home of Mrs. R. Wilson of Williams st reet. AN AFTERXOO. MEETlXli. The regular meeting of the members of dewing Circle No. 1. of .St. Margaret's hospital was held at the home of Mrs. Mat Klein in West State street yesterday afternoon. The usual number of members attended and spent the afternoon in a social way. Cards were the principal feature of the afternoon and several games of pedro were played. The honors at the games were awarded to Mrs. John Heiser and Mrs. Walsh. Mrs. George Eder received the consolation prize. The remainder of the afternoon was spent with social conversation and the hostess served a dainty luncheon.
