Rothschild of South Hohman street, who are spending the summer touring Europe, received cards today from Frankfort am Rhine, where thfy are still spending a delightful time. Mr. and Mrs. Rothschild have been in Europe many times and this trip was Planned so that several weeks could be spent in Germany. It will be a fewweeks before they return to Ham mond. Deming and daughter, Miss Marion Deming of Carroll street left this morning for Frankfort. Ind., where they will spend a few days visiting friends and relatives. A SOCIAL IlKKTINJi. The regular monthly social meeting of the members of the Martha and Deborah Aid Societies of the First Christian church will take place this afternoon at the home of Mrs. Fred Harnett in Summer street. A very pleasant social pii.gram had been arranged for the afternoon and dainty refreshments will be served. A large attendance Is expected at the meeting. A PICNIC AT niVKRDAI.K. The members of Silver Light Hive, I O. T. M., have arranged for a pleasant day's outing and Invited all their friends to attend with them. They met at the Motor Boat club house at 9:30 and left ia launches for Riverdale park where they will spend the day with the usual picnic diversions and serve an elaborate luncheon at noon. They expected to return to Hammond about o o'clock. This is the annual picnic and the members hope to have it a success in every detail. A POST NVPTIAI, IIKCEPTION. Mrs. Mary Holm and daughter. Miss Alice Holm were "at home" at a most charming post-nuptial reception yesterday afternoon at their pleasant residence. 5 3 Rimbach avenue, complimentary to Mrs. A. Murray Turner. Many of Hammond's society ladles were invited to meet Mrs. Turner who came to Hammond very recently from the east, the bride of Mr. Turner, to make her future home in Glendale park. The reception was only the first of several very delightful parties that are being planned in her honor during the approaching social season. About three hundred invitations to attend were issued among the friends and a very
large number were present from Hammond,' Chicago and Crown Point. , The
receiving hours continued between 2:30 and 6 o'clock and the guests came in three- parties. Mrs. Henry M. Bicknell and Mrs. Edith B. Griffith received at the door and ushered the guests into the parlor where Mrs. Holm, Miss Holm and Mrs. Turner were In the receiving line. In the other parlors of the resi dence, Mrs. Nellie Bicknell Dunham, Mrs. L. L. Bomberger and Mrs. W. Ray Hatch were ushers and Introduced the guests and met with them for social conversation. Miss Florence Deming and Miss Ruth Brennan served frappe and the Misses Dorothy Edwards, Estelle Russell and Margaret Turner assisted. The little ladies wore dainty lingerie gowns. In the dining halls the guests were served with a dainty two course luncheon bj- five young ladies from Kenwood. An orchestra was stationed in the upper hall behind a bank of palms and flowers, end played during the entire afternoon. Their selections were very beautiful and the program contained many selections from the popular operas which were very much enjoyed. The home was very handsomely decorated for the party with palms and ferns and flowers. In the parlors the decorations were garden flowers, in very dainty colors, and ferns, great masses of flocks, gardenias and hydrangeas, blending in their na tural colors were artistically arranged on the piano and banked in the windows. Hanging baskets of the same flowers were used in the arches and windows. In the dining room the color scheme was pink and white and the colors were arranged prettily to add to the attractiveness of the room. Four baskets filled with pink and white sweet-peas were the only decorations at the table, which was beautiful in its simplicity. The veranda and lawn had been nicely decorated for the occasion, but the rain prevented the reception from being an out-of-door function, as the hostesses had planned. The grounds had been enclosed with summer shrubbery and foliage and large bowls of flowers were used in conspicuous places. In every detail the party was one of the most beau tiful ever given in Hammond. A (il EST FROM MI1.WAI KER Miss Sadie Maclntyre. formerly of Hammond, but now of Milwaukee, is expected to arrive in Hammond this evening to be the guest of Mrs. Fred Lash and Mrs. Joe Wilcoxson at their home in fate street for several days. LEAVES FOR MIf HIAX. Mrs. Thomas Boyle and son, James of Ann street have gone to Big Rapids, Mich., to spend two or three weeks with friends and relatives. A PLEASANT MEETING. A very pleasant meeting of the mem bers of the Ladies of the Knights of Columbus took place yesterday after noon in the K .of C. hall. There was the usual attendance of members and a very enjoyable social afternoon is reported. A short business meeting was held earlv in the afternoon and the remainder of the afternoon was de voted to card games. Several games of pedro were played and at the close of the games the honors were awarded to Mrs. W. I. Weis and Mrs. O'Rourke. A dainty luncheon was served at the close of the afternoon. The next meet ing will take place in two weeks. AID SOCIETY" HAS MEETING. Mrs. August Genrich very pleasant ly entertained the members of the Ladies' Aid Society of the St. Paul's Lutheran church yesterday afternoon at her home in Logan street. It was the regular meeting of the members and about fifty were in attendance. The afternoon was spent socially and an elaborate luncheon was served. It was decided to have a basket picnic next Thursday at the I,ike Front park and a cordial invitation to attend is extended all the ladies of the society. Arrangements will be made for a very enjoyable time. The announcement for the next meeting was not made yesterday. SEWING CIRCI.K MEETS. The regular meeting of the members of Sewing Circle No. 2 Of St. Margaret's hospital will held this afternoon at the home of Mrs. Yaeger. Cards will be the diversion of the aft ernoon and several games of pedro will be pl.ved. A very pleasant social time is anticipated. A CI. IB PARTY. Mrs. G. Raymus is entertaining the ladies of the No-Name club this afternoon at her home in Rimbach avenue. It is the regular club party and the members anticipate a very enjoyable time playing cards. Mrs. Lorenz Wartena of Fast Chicago was in Hammond on her way to Tolleston where she will spend a few days with Mrs. Luther Wartena. LEAVES ON EASTERN THII. Mrs. Phelps of State street will go to Niagara Falls and Buffalo to spend a few weeks and will spend a very pleasant time. A BASKET PICNIC. The members of the Ladies' Aid Society of St. Paul's Lutheran church are planning to give a picnic at the Lake Front park next Thursday. Many of the ladles will go to the park in tho morning and many will not go until the afternoon.. They will take their lunches with them and serve on the lawn. They expect a very large attendance of ladies in the church and all anticipate an enjoyable outing. MEET WITH MISS GENRICH. The young ladies of the S. S. Embroidery club did not hold their reg-

Miss Ella Ketchum is on her way home to Hammond from Lafayette, Where she has been visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Ketchum. Foster Clippinger of Indianapolis has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Ibach and family at their home in South Hohman street before leaving for northern Michigan where he will spend the remainder of the summer. HOLD REGFLR MEETING. The young people of the King Herald society of the First Methodist church will meet at the home of Verna MacAleer in Webb street, Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. A very interesting program has been arranged for the afternoon and it is desired that all the members lie present. RKTl'HN FROM EASTERN TRIP. Messrs. Harry Morganati and Frank Warman returned home this afternoon from a month's visit in the east. They visited at Niagara Falls, Buffalo, New York City, Albany, Atlantic City and other interesting points.
