PRODDING QUES1N5 BRING OUT STATEMENT
A regular meeting of the Gary Republican club is called for this evening, to be held in Binzenhof hall, and every republican, whether a club member or not, is urged to be present. It is expected that the Young Men's club will turn out in a body to hear what the senior body has to say about the campaign, which can be said to be on now. The issues of the campaign will be laid down this evening, and every progressive voter ought to know what they are. As the campaign nears the close, they will grow more confusing, but there are few things which the republicans would like to fix In everybody's mind. Everybody will be welcome. George M.mlove, president of the club, lias secured a written opinion from the attorney general regarding Gary's transition from a town to a city government. This is another important thing when every voter should know, and as Sir. Manlo've will have the opinion read this evening, it will afford a good opportunity to become acquainted with this phase of the law. Several good speakers will address the audience this evening.

H. D. Davis, secretary and; treasur
er of the Gary Construtcion 'eompanys today registered a formal objection against the handbill issued in Gary Wednesday night and extensively circulated among the Knotts democrats during their mass meeting in the Cozy theater, Insofar as his company' was concerned. The handbill asked Mr. KnoUts several very pertinent questions, among which was the one referring to the Gary Construction company, as, follows: "Are you a stockholder or partner In the Gary Construction company, or- the Cain Construction company.ior anyother construction company?" Mr. Davis was indignant.-at the insinuation that T. E. Knotts ever was connected with the Gary Construction Co. The statement of Mr. Davis is as follows: "Neither myself or company were In no wise Interested In the Gary campaign, and Mr. T. E. Knotts never own
ed any stock or other interest in the Gary Construction company;, the Gary Construction company or any of its officials have never asked any favors of Mr. T. E. Knotts or any of the other Gary officials, and had never received any. The company hasheretofore and expects in thj future to do business in Gary on the same business principle it had in Hammond, East Chicago, Whiting, Indiana Harbor and other places."

TEN FAMILIES ARE ENDANGERED IN FIRE
Shortly before 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon an alarm of fire was turned in from Slxtenth and Adams street. In Gary, where the big shack belonging to John Apostoe is located. The shack is a large one-story tenement and is utilized as a home for ten families. The new automobile truck arrived on the scene at 3.02, Just two minutes after the alarm was turned, and making the run of about a mile and a half in that time. , The fire had gained a considerable
headway and seemed
all parts at once. So qu
company's response, however, that it was under control almost immediately, and tho loss was slight. It was necessary to make use of 1,000 feet of hose, owing to the distance of the building from the most available fire plug. The 120-pound pressure was turned on at the pumping station and a good demonstration of the efficiency of the water works for fire purposes was obtained. As soon as the fire was discovered
