LOWELL MAN CHARGED WITH HEINOUS ACT (Continued from Page 1.) ter was too strong and Judge Woodcock had no difficulty in determining that there was a probability of g-ullt and ordered the man bound over to the September term of the circuit court. It was rumored at the trial that Fross is guilty of Improper relations with another older stepdaughter, who gave birth to a child about three years ago. Fross was suspected then, but no one prosecuted the case, and the matter was allowed to drop. Lost His I'olUh. Fross is said to be a man of uncouth appearance, with the animal nature largely predominating. He claims to have graduated from a medical school and to be highly educated, but his manner indicates that if he ever was an educated man, he has lost all of the polish he once gained by his college experience. The people of Lowell are very much aroused over the case, and there Is considerable talk about taking extreme measures with the man. However, there is no doubt that the law will be allowed to take Its course, and If Fross is proven guilty, as charged, he will bo sentenced to the penitentiary, where the people of Lowell say he belongs. GARY'S HOST CIRCUS Sells & Forepaugh's Shows Ave Coming to Town Soon. Sells & Forepaugh's big circus will be in Gary on Monday, Aug. 9, and will pitch its tents at Eleventh avenue and Broadway, on vacant property owned by the Gary Land company. The land company refused to charge any rental for the grounds, but asked in consideration of the lease that the company not pay its men for the week until they have reached Gary. There being approximately 500 with the show they will '.leave considerable money in Gary, especially since the circus will arrive in Gary on Sunday and show on Monday. Ed Warner, the advance agent of the circus, was in Gary this morning. BODIES OF DAM VICTIMS FOUND Ella Zister and Herman Lindeman Taken from River. South Bend, Ind., July 8. The bodies of Miss Ella Zister and Herman Linderman of Chicago, who were drowned Monday, were recovered today. They were carried over a dam in the St. Joe rivet; while in a rowboat. STUCK ON SANDBAR (Special to The Times.) . Indiana Harbor, Ind., July 8. The ore boat, D. D. Neacham, laden with 9,900 tons of ore for the Inland Steel mills, was grounded on a sandbar this morning in the outer harbor, off the South Bay hotel. No serious damages has resulted, as several thousand tons of ore were carried away In lighters. At noon today it was expected to float the ship by this evening. Galant Burglar. After rifling a lady's boudoir and annexing some jewels, the burglar left a note brief but gallant, and gratifying to a degree before taking his departure. "A thousand regrets," so the note ran, "for not having found in this chamber by far its most lovely Jewel." The instinct of ' self-control, of gentleness, of consideration and forethought and quick sympathy, which go to make up what we call good breeding; the absence of noise and hurry, and thousand and one little ways by which we can please people, or avoid displeasing them are all taught us by our own hearts. Good manners are the fine flowers of culti vation, and everybody can have the A Laugh Coming. Thoro to a 17.tr ison who feels so good that she al most screams with joy. WHEN YOU ARE PINCHED FOR MONEY, THERE'S NOTHING THAT WILL HELP YOU OUT LIKE MONEY. Any Amonnt From $10.00 Up. LOWEST RATES IN CALUMET DISTRICT. BEST SERVICE. A little advice from a well meaning friend may nelp some. Promises may give you a little encouragement, but they won't pay the grocer's bill, or the butcher's, or the doctor's. You need something more substantial you need the "dough." The assistance, we can render you, is oT a practical sort. Of course when we loan money, it's purely a matter of business. But we believe it will make you a friend of ours, too you'll like the way we do business, and the treatment accorded you. That's how we've been able to build up such a long list of satisfied customers. If we do not treat our clients in such a way as to gain their friendship, wo would not expect them to come back again. So if you are in need of financial assistance at this time, don't hesitate to apply to us in person, by letter, or by phone. If you own household goods, or piano, etc., it is evidence of your ability to pay back the money. We make the payments large or small to suit you. You can have from one month to one year to pay back the money. We charge you only for the length of time you keep the money. You get a rebate for each month that you pay in full before the time stated in the contract. We give you a statement of your account showing all details. If you owe another loan company, we will pay them off for you and give you more money at lower rates than you are paying. There are many other advantages to be had by dealing with the oldest, largest and most reliable company in the Calumet District. REMEMBER We are the plain figures and square deal company. Call, write or phone, and our representative will see you. We make loans anywhere in the Calumet District on a few hours notice.
