Earl Kingsland, formerly of Hammond but now of St. Iiouis, Mo., is spending a few days' vacation with Hammond friends. ATTEXD CELEBRATION. Mr. and Mrs. Silas Sheerer and children went to Hobart today to attend the celebration and visit with relatives over Sunday. LEAVE FOR LOWELL. Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Sherrard and I family of Douglas street went to Iowell this morning to spend a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Atwood. Not many of the members were able to attend on account of storm, but those who were present passed a very delightful time. Several social diversions were enjoyed during the evening, after which a daintily arranged course luncheon was served. Another meeting of the young ladies will occur in two weeks. HORSEMEN GO TO WESI PULLH AH Entries for Races NearlyAll From Hammond and Vicinity. A representative delegation of Hammond horsemen went to West Pullman this afternoon to witness the first matinee races for this season. The entries for the different races were mad largely by men of this territory, and, consequently, there was an unusual interest in the event. The weather today was ideal for the sport, and brought out a good attendance from all around. The Saturday afternoon matinee races will be a regular feature during the summer months.

All the afternoon and evening trains are taking people out of the city for the Fourth of July vacation, and the prospects are that the city will be pretty well depleted of at least a part of its population over Sunday and Monday.
