BURNHAM III PATENT FDi BUI Tap Acts as Key Which
Locks Automatically; Leak-Proof. PUT IN ON THE MARKET Patentees Believe They Have MoneyMafcing Device, and Have Large Number Manufactured. (Special to Tub Times.) Burrham, 111., June 21. William H. Furman and his partner, Robert Sutton, of Hammond have completed and patented a new device, which may put them on easy street before long. They have a patent faucet and bung, which locks itself when not in use, the faucet fitting into the bung and acting as a key, which unlocks the barrel. When not in use the faucet is taken out and the bung becomes locked and absolutely leak proof. Mr. Furman and Mr. Sutton have succeeded in getting some capital interested in their patent, and are now having them turned out in large numbers by a Chicago firm. They have already many large orders for Chicago and Hammond, and the thing bids fair to prove a howling success. This is an article which should greatly appeal to distilleries and barrel houses, aa there is nothing of its kind at present on the market. This very easily explains Mr. Furman's air of secrecy in the past couple of months, and his evident reluctance to do any more hard work. "We can probably expect great things from these two men, as Mr. Sutton says he has a couple of other patents pending on articles which will be better eellers than his faucet. We hope this is true, and wish them every success, as Mr. Sutton appears to be an all around good fellow and Bill speaks for himself. CLUB ILL HE
A LITTLE HONEY Judicious Use of Printers Ink Help -University Club to Keep Out of Hole. CLUBS FRIENDS ENJOY OUTING All That Was Promised in Advertisements Was Given to Grand Stand Patrons. In view of the wide publicity that was given the University club grandstand at the Crown Point automobile races a large number of people, many of them patrons of this stand, are Interested In knowing how the boys came out with their project. For the Information of those whose co-operation and help made the project a success, where other schemes failed, it might be said that the club will clear in the neighborhood of flOO on the two days of the races. This, of course, U far below what the club expected, but considering the fact that other stands lost hundreds of dollars the members of the Hammond University club are well pleased with the outcome of the plan. There were two factors which contributed to the success of the University club boys. One was the fact that the members, to a man, co-operated with the committees and helped to make the affair a success, and the other was the fact that by the judicious use of printer's ink in a paper, which covered the entire region, the University club stand was better advertised than any other stand on the course. Lake fc "miU y Wus There. The University club stand was the hearquarters for Lake county people. Every advantage that was advertised was found on the grounds. The bulletin service was found to be the most Important feature as the interest in watching the cars pass soon wore away and it was the only way of knowing how the race was coming out. The fact that one report sent to Hammond had the Knox car the winner instead of the Buick shows the value of this service. But, In addition to making a little money out of the project, the club afforded its members and their guests a splendid day's outing on the most attractive spot on the course and everyone was satisfied.
