Jolly Was the feast last night at' the Kinghts of Columbus hall, the occasion being the Hammond high school junior-senior banquet, at which the former were the hosts and the latter guests. Despite the fact that here and there a gray head bobbed among the three score feasters, all were young, as only high school students and those who love their gay ways know how to be.. Members of the faculty graced the occasion with their presence and through this added much to the completeness of the evening. From S:30 until midnight the walls echoed and re-echoed, first with the sounds of lr.strumenal and vocal solos, then with the merry jests of the banqueters, and later with the happy and appropriate remarks of the teachers, in answer to which came the studied toasts and responses of the young after dinner speakers. But in all this gayety and abandonment of the school rou

tine, the feasters did not forget a miss

ing face of one who should have been 'will follow with them, hut who was instead law ' cises, as a

tossing about on a sick bed, making a

desperate battle to regain that strength

which she had lost in her successful

efforts to master her studies. Thev

found time to think of Hazel La Rue,

a member of the senior class, who is

very sick from a complication of diseases.

Hall a Riot of Color. The decoration of the hall presented i

a riot of color, in which the school col- ! or, purple and white, predominated. The

dignified colors, maroon and gold for the seniors, occupied the place of honor in the hall.

Pampass grass with which the walls

and ceilings had been decked produced

a pretty effect on the whole. The serving of the four course dinner was in charge of Mrs. Epker, who Appointed as her waitresses the girls of the freshman class. The instrumental and vocal program
