k k RODU

IS ARRESTED

RETALIATfOi

Alexander A. Rodman, the Gary colored man who swore out the warrant in the lake superior court charging David Johnson and William Piper with keeping ap. immoral house, was himself arrested yesterday in retaliation for his efforts to clean up the colored joints in Gary. The warrant was sworn out by Robert Wyne Johnson, formerly an employe of Mayor Knotts, and ex-editor of the Colored Press. The trouble between the two men arose In Hammond, where they wer.; both summoned to appear in the superior court where the case against David Johnson and Piper had been called. An argument was started over the' character of William Piper. Johnson defending him and Rodman maintaining

mat he should be prosecuted. It is not known how serious the trouble became, but for some reason or other Johnson' thought that he should have recourse before tho law. It is intimated, however, that Johnson had an ulterior motive which David Johnson and William Piper might help to explain.
