ing a charter at the coming Louisville conclave In June are good, yet it Is possible that Orak temple will have to work under a special dispensation for a. year or so. This will bo true of all
of the other proposed Shriners In Indiana. It should be understood that at the present time there Is only one Shrine In Hooslerdom. That Shrine Is Murat temple at Indianapolis, and the proposed temples at Fort Wayne and Evansville are exactly on a par with the one at Hammond. Hammond Petition Largest. There is a Distinct Opportunity in Burnham
for the man who establishes a Lumber Yard or Sash and Door Factory there now. C HegewiSCh and Burnham adjoin each other and have a combined population of at least 6,000, but have no place where a piece of molding, a door or a thousand feet of lumber can be secured. d This situation presents an unusual opportunity for a lumber merchant to establish a successful branch in this neighborhood. C We have for sale several tracts of land of from one to five acres in extent, which are suitable for that purpose, situated on the Belt, Terminal or Indiana Harbor railroads.
FOR FURTHER INFORMATION, ADDRESS
county Masons- that the Hammond petl- 1
tion had 1S3 names, while the Fort Wayne petition had only 120 names on
it. The other petitions were all entailer than the one sent In by Fort Wayne.
Hammond was also the only city
which was represented by a committee. The Hammond committee consisted of the Illustrious potentate-elect of
Orak temple. Dr. II. E. Sharrer; H. F. Meikle, J. T. Hutton, George W. Lewis and A. F. Knotts. The fact that the Calumet region in Indiana, containing the cities of Hammond, East Chicago and Gary, is destined to become the 'argest center of population in Indiana is recognized by the people of Indianapolis, as is shown by the statement of Illustrious Potentate E. J. Jacoby before the members of Murat temple, when he said: "The Hammond Shriners should be granted permission to organize a Shrine temple for the reason that it is destined to become the center of one of the most populous districts in the state. The time is not far distant when Orak temple at Hammond will outshine Murat temple at Indianapolis in point of numbers." The Hammond Shriners units in giving Dr. H. E. Pharrer the lion's share of the credit for the locating of Orak Shrine here. It was Dr. Sharrer, who was the moving spirit In organizing the
famous 101 class and it was he who
first suggested and carried the suggestion into effect to secure a Shrine charter here.
