Elllck will entertain the members of the Bridge Whist club at a 6:30 o'clock dinner tomorrow at their home in Mason street The dinner will be followed by an evening at cards. ; MEETING POSTPONED. The meting of the music committee of the Hammond Woman's club, which was announced to take place today at the home of Mrs. J. W. Houser In CarroU street had to be postponed. The members of the orchestra are . conin Chicago and are very successful entertainers. The numbers last evening were all well rendered. The entertainment was not as largely attended as ' expected, which was due to the Inclement weather. The proceeds will be EXTRA!

A certain person In Hammond, who professes to be a lady, gave a story to The Times yesterday regarding a wedding anniversary party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Molloy, which proved to be utterly false. The story waB particularly malicious for, as Mr. Molloy says: "Nothing of the kind took place there in any shape or form. Owing to the season of Lent no such a thing would be tolerated for a moment within my four walls." There were many people from out-of-town in Hammond yesterday to hear the lecture on Christian Science by Bicknell Toung, C. S. B. of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston. About fifteen people came from Michigan City and many from Valparaiso, Chesterton, Gary, Chicago and East Chicago.

A LITTLE DAVGHTER COMES. Contractor Robert Kidney and his wife are perhaps the happiest couple in Hammond today. A ten-pound baby daughter was left at their home early this morning and among those who hurried there with congratulations was Grandfather and ex-Mayor Patrick Reilley. Mrs. Kidney is doing nicely. MRS. MILLER ENTERTAINS. Mrs. Charles Miller entertained the members of the Fern Leaf club and a few friends very pleasantly yesterday afternoon at her home in South Hohman street. It was the regular meet ing of the club and the guests passed the afternoon in a nenjoyable way with cards. Several games of pearo were played and the prizes were awarded Mrs. Max Schmidt and Mrs. E. G. Seeley. The consolation prize was given to Mrs. Ducomb. At the close of the games the guests passed a pleas ant social hour and were served with delicious refreshments. The next meeting will take place Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Foster Murray. 803 Sibley street. All the mem bers were present and Mrs, Schwab ana Mrs. Dave Hirsch were present us guests of the hostess. HOLD ALL-DAY SESSION. The members of the Martha Aid So ciety of the First Christian church met for an all-day session yesterday at the home of Mrs. Wolters, 526 North Hohman street. There was a good at tendance of members present who spent the day in sewing for the society . At 12 o'clock an elaborate five course dinner was served in the dining room. The next meeting will take place Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Harlen in Michigan avenue. This will be the regular social meet ing and a pleasant program will be ar ranged for the entertainment of tne guests. MEETING POSTPONED. The meeting of William II. Calkins W. It. C, which was announced to take place last evening in Memorial hall, had to be postponed on account of the weather. The next regular meeting will take place in two weeks. SUCCESSFl'L SOCIAL. The choir of the German M. E. church gave a very pleasant box so cial last evening In the social room of the church. The social was well attended and a neat sum was realized for the benefit of the choir. An enjoyable musical and literary program was rendered during the - evening, . aft?r which refreshments were served. HOLD SOCIAL MEETING. Mrs. Burk entertained the members of the Deborah Aid society of the First Christian church yesterday afternoon at her home in Calumet avenue. Boone is entertaining her sister. Miss Berry, of South Bend, Ind., for a few days at her home in May street. REPORTED ILL. Mrs. J. "W. Houser is reported to be quite ill at her home in Carroll street. ATTEND CHICAGO MEETING. A number of members from the Dor cas and Oermania Rebekah lodge went to Chicago last evening to attend a meeting of the Englewood lodge at Sixty-third street and Yale avenue, About thirty members left Hammond on the 6:28 Lake Shore. The meeting was unusually well attended and the Hammond guests report very pleasant entertainment. The Hammond staff initiated a class of five into the Engle wood order. At the close of the regu lar lodge session an elaborate banquet was served. VISITS FRIENDS HERE. Miss Othella Hoffman of Ottumwa la., has arrived in Hammond for a pleasant visit with Miss L. Waite at her home, 353 South Hohman street. A DELIGHTFUL PARTY. Mrs. A. Weatherwax entertained the members of the Erthstone club at very delightful party yesterday afternoon at her home in Clinton street. Mrs. "Weatherwax entertained at a St, Patrick's day party and requested . her guests to come in appropriate costume, Mrs. Robert Twiss, who represented a typical Irish girl, was awarded the first nriz. and Mrs. Charles Wilson, who came as an Irish biddy, was awarded another prize. The afternoon was passed with games and contests appropriate to St. Patrick's day, after which the guests were invited , into the dining room and served with a daintily ar ranged two-course luncheon. The dining room was attractively arranged for the party, carrying out a pretty color scheme in green and white. The chandeliers were prettily draped with foli age and festoons of vines were brought from the chandeliers" to the four corners of the room. Trailing vines also decor ated the table. An Immense bunch o green carnations formed & pretty cen ter piece for the table. The refresh ments were carried out in green and white as far as possible. The nex party will occur In two weeks and Mrs Marion Hower and Mrs. Charles Wilson will entertain at the home cf Mrs Hower in Doty street. ENTERTAINS AT A STAG. The members of the Hammond Moto Boat club will meet this evening at the home of G. W. Hunter In Hohman street. A short business .meeting will be held early in the evening, after which Mr. Hunter wil entertain at stae and serve supper. The members anticipate a very enjoyable time. HERE FOR A VISIT.
