Brunt entertained the members of the Colonial club very pleasantly yesterday afternoon at her home In Plummer avenue. The usual club program was enjoyed after which the hostess served her guests with' a luncheon. Another club party will be held next week, although the place of meeting is not decided. K. WHIST CLUB MEETS. The members of the B. B. K. Whist club were very pleasantly entertained by Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Kingwlll last evening at their home in Williams street. The evening was devoted at cards after which the guests were served with a luncheon. The guests were: Messrs. and Mesdames Law rence Becker, C. E. Bauer, William Thum, Miss Inez Eaton and Ralph Tennant. " MRS. STEVENSON ENTERTAINS. The members of Sewing Circle No. : of St. Margaret's hospital met yester day afternoon at the home of Mrs. H. Stevenson In Sibley street for the regular meeting. There was a good at tendance of members who passed pleasant afternoon with cards. Pedro was played from small tables and the prizes were awarded to Mesdames Fox Weis and Emmerllng. At the close of the games the hostess served a lunch eon at small tables. The members all passed an enjoyable afternoon and will met again In two weeks at the home of Mrs. Henry Bleker. MISS IIAUBER A HOSTESS. The J. B. club will hold a meeting this evening at the home of Miss JO sephlne Hauber in Morton court. The meeting was to have been held last evening but was posponed on account of the Inclement weather. Miss Elizabeth Evers of Edgewater, 111., was the guest of friends In Ham mond last evening for the Elks dance. HAVE ENJOYABLE SOCIAL. The Berea Bible class had planned for a fine social at the church las evening and many braved the inclemen weather to enjoy the occassion. A pro gram was given as far as the partici pants were present. A delightful lunch was a part of the occasion that did no have to be lessened because of the rain The members were tagged with cards bearing their names. The design was that all should easily get acquainted This Bible class under the presidency of Mrs. A. T. Brlggs and with W. C Belman as teacher is making fine head way. Fifty-three were present in class last Sunday. They will be heard from in the future. PLEASANT AFTERNOON GATHERING A delightful social gathering was en joyed In the Fifth ward yesterday af ternoon. "The Ward Friendly Circle," was promoted by the Methodist social committee. The function was held at the home of Mrs. J. A. Gavlt with Mrs. J. H. Long and Mrs. Gavit in charge. Thirty persons were present. A musical and literary program was given. Miss Cora Ryder gave a vocal solo; Miss Eleanor Linz gave two piano numbers; Miss Mildred Emerlnn delighted the company with a reading; Miss Mil dred Collins sang beautifully two solos. ATTENDS HAMMOND PARTY. Miss Marguerite Hart and Vernon Parry of Crown Point, attended the dancing party In the Masonic temple last evening. ... LECTURE IS POSTPONED. . The lecture by Dr. I. Klein, of Chi cago, which was announced for last evening, had to be postponed on ac count of the inclement weather. ENTERTAINS AT DINNER. Miss Mary Ibach gave a very delight ful dinner party last evening' at her home in South Hohman street to which the members of the Hammond high school faculty were invited. The dinner was very prettily served In courses and a dainty color scheme prevailed In the dining room. ATTEND CHICAGO PARTY. Misses Ruth Sohl and Florence Loveridge were guests at a party given in Chicago last evening by the Chi Rho Sigma sorority. WILL GIVE A MUSICAL. The members of the Musical Art so clety are planning to give another musical entertainment, Monday, Feb. 15, in the K. of C. halt. The members are asked to call at Blcknelrs drug store Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock to get their tickets. A very delight ful program is being arranged and the public is invited to attend. This Is the second entertainment to be given by the society during the winter. HAVE DELIGHTFUL DANCE. One of the most delightful affairs of the winter was a dancing party given last evening in the Masonic temple by the Hammond Lodge of Elks to which invitations were sent out among their friends in Hammond, Chicago and Crown Point. The party was one of the social successes of the year and despite the rain about eighty couple attended. Informal dancing began at 9 o'clock and continued until 10 o'clock when the guests formed for the grand march. The march was lead by Mr. and Mrs Virgil S. Reiter and Mrs. Reiter was pesented with an immense bunch of Ameican beauty roses by the Elks; At this time the ladles at the party were presented with souvenir merry widow hats and the gentlemen with small Turkish caps. During the program the guests wore these novel hats and the orchestra played the Merry Widow selections. Frappe was served during the intermission and at 12 o'clock the guests were served with elaborate refreshments while the orchestra con tinued to play a pretty program of music. Barnle Young's orchestra of nine pieces played for the dancing. The parlors of the temple were prettily decorated for the occasion. HAVE A PLEASANT BANQUET. The Knights of King Arthur, a new ly organized society of the young boys in the parish of St. Paul's Episcopal church met last evening In the guild room of the church for a pleasant social gathering. Quite an elaborate banquet was served early in the even lng after which various amusements were enjoyed. About twelve boys atof this kind will be held every rour or tended the meeting. A social meeting six weeks. ENTERTAIN AT APRON SHOWER. The Misses Emily and Bertha Ebert entertained the young ladles of the N, N. Embroidery club at an apron shower last evening at their home in South Hohman street, In honor of Miss Alma Fedder's approaching marriage to Mr A. K. Engle, of Seattle, Wash. Vari ous games and contests were enjoyed during the evening and music was also a pleasant feature of the entertainment. A donkey contest was enjoyed when Miss Fedder was blind-folded and asked to pin a tail on the Donkey. When she succeeded she was showered with the gifts of her friends. The hostesses served a daintily arranged course luncheon during the evening. The guests were: Mrs. J. J. Claussen, Misses Alma, Meta and Llllle Fedder. Gertrude and Emma Claus, Bertha Maleltske, Lena Hopkins and Emily and Bertha Ebert. Bowling Notes Even the postoffice employes have the bug. There was a bowling game last evening between the clerks and the carriers of the local postoffice. Notwithstanding the fact that the carriers live an out of doors life and are supposed to be toughened and hardened by long walks they are unable to trim the clerks, and when the games were finished it was discovered that the clerks had won by a majority of 51 pints. The contest was played on the Masonic alleys, and there were a large number of interested rooters on both sides. It Is understood that there will be another game bowled In the near future and the carriers hope to retrlve their lost honors.
