TEXAS PALS." - In "Texas Pals," which, will be pre sented at the Towle opera house New Tear's day, matinee and night, there is told a pretty story of love on the plains, a romance involving the lives i)f two cow-punchers, each loyal to the ther, and each loving the same girl, a story as old as the hills, and yet ever new. It is from the principal theme in this story that Jack Rose's beautl ful drama of southwestern Texas, de rives its title. "Texas Pals" is not a melodrama of the lurid type,, if, indeed. it may lie classed under that form of dramatic composition. There is plenty of action, and enough thrills to beep any audience wide-awake, but the events that transpire are not of an imfact that the interest they arouse is . most intense. Throughout the play the atmosphere of southwestern Texas is preserved, this fidelity as to local color making the scenes very realistic "Texas Pals" differs from many plays in that it adheres strictly to the facts in regard to the customs and habits of this borderland country, and the peo pie who make their home son Its vast nlalns. and in the foothills of Its mountains. Its author, Mr. Jack Rose, lived for a number of years near the Mexican border, on a ranch on the poney express trail leading to Ama rllla, Texas, and he has made his play a vivid picture what Is perhaps the most romantic section of this country. COMR6, ' Everybody who,, has .seen "The Man
of the Hour" will see it again at the Towle opera house on next Sunday, matinee and night. The wonderful popularity of this play from coast to coast la largely due to word of mouth advertising. Everybody who sees it, advises some one else to see It. George Broadhurst, once content with a bookkeeper's modest wage in Baltimore, has
received more than $150,000 in royal ties from the piece. William A. Brady and Joseph R. Grismer show great cleverness in picking money getters. VISITING HERE. Heifer will enter CORRECT TREATMENT OF Pepsin Method Now Supercdeed by Modern, Ra tional Treatment. . WE MUSTSTOP FERMENTAT1Q Any Good Neutralizing Mixture Will Do Good Formule Suggested. The majority of physicians are com ing to concede that in cases of fermen tation in the intestines accompanied by gas, the ordinary pepsin treatment is valueless. The Indiscriminate ap plication of the pepsin treatment seems due to its successful use in cases o gastric insufficiecy. - It. .is- now coming to be generally known that . pepsin is inefficient ex cept in- -an acid medium, and that it is consequently of -no Value in the in testines, which , are fiormally alkalin In reaction. - . ' Obstruction, fermentation, gas all the severer forms of protracted, Indl gestion,, require entirely differen treatment from the old pepsin method they require an agent to stimulate" th pancreatic secretions, to neutralize the hyperacidity of the stomach before it reaches the intestines, and to check the ' fermentation of undigested food and the formation of gas. . Even If pepsin were not Immediately destroyed In the alkalinity of the intestines it is capable of checking fermentation. And in fermentation lies the danger-of in digestion. It leads to irritation and in- j ftammatlon of the bowels, and finally to virtually incurable ulceration. I The correct treatment of dyspepsia, J and in fact, of the milder forms 4in t digestion, lies in the use of almost any good neutralizing mixture or elixir, j The following prescription has been ; recommended as displaying prompt j results. Get from your druggist -oz. j sodium phosphate and 1 ounce essence of sealmint. Mix this -thoroughly in a half-pint bottle with M teaspoonful of good baking soda, adding pure water to fill the bottle. Take two teaspoonfuls before each meaL It is said that this mixture will reliev the bowels of gas within fifteen minutes, and that It will permanently cure the most aggravated cases within two or three weeks. Anyone Is free to use this formula and make up the medicine at home. All the Ingredients can be had from any druggist at a. ost not exceeding 60 or 65 cents.
