JOHN EOY THOMPSON.
MRS. H. PELKNEE THOMPSON.
Mr John Roy Thompson' and Miss Harriet Eleanor Felkner were married in private apartments in. the Hyde Park hotel. Fifty-first street and Lake avenue, Chicago, Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. Charles Albert Smith, the rector of St. Paul's Episcopal church at Hammond, officiated. Miss Felkner -was attended by Miss Florence Loveridge, and Roscoe E. "Woods was beat man. Mrs. Belle Felkner, the mother of the bride, gav her away, and the only other witness of the ceremony was Mrs. Charles Albert Smith. . The fact that the wedding occurred in Chicago and not, as recently announced, at the ijne of Mrs. Felkner'g sister, Mrs. Maurice Green, 27 North Warwick street, Avondale, Cincinnati, Ohio, was due to the serious illness of Mr. Thompson's mother, which made it inadvisable to have the more elaborate wedding which had been originally planned and was to have been held '. Dec. 31. Mr. Thompson arrived from Olewein last Friday and met Mrs. Felkner and her daughter in the parlors of their private apartments, where they were joined by the rest of the wedding party from Hammond. The ceremony was performed at 3 o'clock In the afternoon by the Rev,
Charles Albert Smith. The beautiful ring ceremony was used and the wedding was very impressive. The bride was very attractively gowned In a
tailored suit of catalpa color and wore large bouquet of English violets.
After the wedding ceremony had been performed the wedding party was served with a sumptuous dinner In a private dining room at the hotel. The ' table was beautifully decorated for the occasion and a large candleabrum occunied the center of the festive board. The dinner of seven courses was
perfectly served.
After the wedding dinner the party was conveyed to the railroad station In automobiles and Mr. and Mrs. John R. Thompson left on a later train on
their honeymoon.
Miss Harriet Felkner is one of Hammond's sweetest brides. She cam to this city about three years ago from Eau Claire, Wis., with her mother, '- Mrs. Belle Felkner, who became the instructor in art in the local public schools.' She graduated from the Hammond high school in 1906. Since then
she has spent part of her time in Hammond and the rest with her aunt, Mrs. Maurice Greene, of Cincinnati.
Mr. John R. Thompson was formerly in the employ of the Fitzhugh-Luther Locomotive works In this city, in charge of the draughting room. He went from Hammond to accept the position as mechanical engineer in charge
of the shops of the Great Western railroad, at Olewein, Iowa.
Mr. Thompson was well known in Hammond, where he as prominent in Masonic circles. He was a member of the One Hundred and One Shrine
class and was also a member of the University club of Hammond.
Mr. and Mrs. Thompson will be at home at their residence, 106 Fourth
avenue south, Olewein, Iowa, after January 15.
That Charles-Crumpaeker of Hammond," the eldest; son of Mr. -and Mrs. Peter Crumpaeker, "26 Webb -street. Is to b marrlod Jan;. i. 1909. to Miss Luella Amos of Ruehvllle, Ind., U the news that Cupid is telling In -Hammond today. The' marriage is to be the culmination of a college romance at Indiana university, which has extended over the period of a year. Mr. Crumpaeker has been studying law at the university, and Miss Amos has been
taking a collegiate course. Miss Amos is one of the fairest of the co-eds at the university. ' She is president of her class, which will be graduated this
year, and she is also president of her sorority, the pap pa Kappa Gamma. As long ago as last summer it was known by the Hammond friends of Mr. Chas. Crumpaeker that he was very much Interested in a pretty co-ed at Bloomlngton. The announcement of his coming
marriage, however, will come as a surprise to all but his immediate friends and . relatives. It is understood that
the wedding will be held in Indianapo
lis and after that Mr. and Mrs. Crumpaeker will live in Indianapolis, whlle
he finishes his law course there.
Miss Amos Is the daughter of
wealthy people in Rushvllle. That she
was a general favorite in school is shown by the fact that she was elected to both the presidency of her class
and her sorority.
The announcement of the engagement
has not been made by the parents of
the young woman and -It is 'possible that this will not be done until just before the wedding' day. Miss Amos will graduate in June,
