Ia to" Open Tip Sew Pool and Billiard Parlors la Crown Point, , It is said that Frank Younsr, who recently ran the Val Blatz Brewing company's saloon on the corner of Main and Jollet streets, but had the place closed by order of the authorities for selling without proper legal process, will open up an up-to-date billiard and pool-room in the vacant building until the time when he can apply for a license on the grounds of sufficient duration of residence. .Mr. Young will also sell soft drinks and hopes to obtain a good patronage for the establishment. This will be the only pool and billiard hall in town, eituated on the ground floor.

The following bids and conracts were accepted by the county commissioners at their December session for the furnishing of respective supplies for the county farm Jail and court house. The Whiting Relief and Aid society
met" Friday evening at the Congrega tional church ln Whiting. The meet
ing was largely attended. A constitu
tion and by-laws were adopted. They
are to look after and care for the sick
and poor of Whiting, Robertsdale, Wll
cox and Stieglltz Park. The secretary
was Instructed to ask all churches and fraternal and social societies for one from each to act as a relief committee in connection with the executive board. The society will be given a room in the public library building, where their
business can be attended to.

the Standard Oil company, is confined to his home in One Hundred and Nine
teenth street by illness.

Mike Kurek, who was arrested for
assaulting Mrs. Annie Rector of Schrage avenue, who is a neighbor of his, was fined 14.33 by Judge Jones on Saturday evening. Not being able to pay the fine he was taken to Crown
Point today, to board it out in the
county Jail.
