seemed earnestly In favor of" the project, even going to far as to define Indiana Harbor as the greatest indus
trial community in the west. With such
sentiments as these, there can be : no
doubt regarding Mr. Burton's co-opera
tion with Congressman. Crumpacker in getting an appropriation through the house, covering a sufficient amount to get the work started. Wickey Is Re-elected. Mr. Wickey was re-elected a director of the National Rivers and Harbors congress, occupying the same chair awarded him last year. He reports that the sessions this year were by far the most interesting in the history of
the organization, and were attended by1 about three thousand delegates. ! The East Chicago man was also pres- j ent at the sessions of the Farmers' National congress, and had the honor of being the only Indiana man to address the National Conservation commission at its hearing with President Roosevelt and President-elect Taft. The sessions of both these committees were filled with interest to country-loving Americans and Mr. Wickey thoroughly enJoyed his affiliation with their interests. , Awaiting the outcome of the legislative contest proposed by Edward Simon of Hammond, against his occupancy of the representative's chair, Mr.
Wickey will attend the trial of the
cause at Crown Point during the next
two weeks, and will attend the dedication of the monument erected on the Vicksburg battle field in honor of the Indiana soldiers who lost their lives In that memorable siege. The dedication will be held on Dec, 29, and Mr. Wickey will be a guest of the Indiana-Vicksburg Military Park commission, who had In charge the building of a sultamle monument for the state's dead.
