ANNUAL HARVEST PARTY. The Knights of Columbus gave an
other of their popular parties last evening in the club rooms above the gas
office to which all members, visiting
knights and their friends were invited.
The entertainment last evening was the annual harvest party and was one of
the prettiest affairs of the fall season
The hall was very appropriately and artistically decorated for the occasion
with porn stalks, pumpkins and .fall
vegetables and was characteristic of the Thanksgiving season. In the front
of the hall was the K. of C. emblem
hung in corn. The guests arrived early in the evening and spent the time with cards. The guests were seated at tables
which were placed in three rows. Four prizes were awarded in each row and the prizes were selected appropriate
for a harvest party. Five games of
pedro were played after which the
prizes wer awarded and the remainder of the evening spent in dancing and music. The Misses Mayme and Tillie Ruschli played the opening piano selections after which the Misses Anna
and Genevive Hastings and Marie
Rahen played several numbers for dancing. The Misses Stommel of Dyer, Julia Reiliey, Messrs. Harry Wets and John Kennedy gave a few vocal num

The art committee of the Hammond Woman's club met yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. B. E. Escher in Plummer avenue for the regular study meeting. There was not as large an
attendance as had been desired, but the regular program was enjoyed after which the afternoon, was devoted to the arrangement of the program for the public day at the club Dec. 12,
when they will have charge. A de
voted lecturer on art from Chicago has
been secured by the chairman of the committee, Mrs. Sarah Rothschild, who will address the club ladles at this time and a very attractive program is being planned. REMAINS THE SAME. Mrs. Peter Crumpacker received word this morning from the Augustana hospital in Chicago, where Mr. Crumpacker is very ill, that he remains about the same. It was thought that he would be able to be brought home the last of the week,- but now it is considered best that he remain another week.
THEI.MA TONIGHT. By popular request the Imperial
Stock company is repeating "Thelma"
at the Towle opera house tonight, and
as there were many who did not witness it upon the occasion of its first presentation, it is probable that the attendance will be more than ordinarily good. There are a great many who have had the pleasure of reading this story, but whom a production will prove a novelty. The company carries all its own scenery, and ail the details are well worked out. A special matinee will be given tomorrow afternoon, when the play, "Her Husband's Sin," which scored a success last night, will
be repeated. The two Thanksgiving day performances will doubtless crowd
the theater afternoon and night, "Car
men" being underlined for the matinee,
and A Daughter of the People" for the night performance. The offer of $25 in gold to any couple that will marry on the stage later in the week
is still open, and all particulars can be obtained at the box office. qiVE SOCIAL. AT FACTORY. HIGH SCHOOL TIDINGS.
Principal McElroy called a meeting of the regular members of the football team last night. The boys of the football squad in in company with Mr. Spahn and Mr. Allee last night, after school, went up to Bicknell's. . Tou know the rest. ! The English III class went to the city last night and saw Mantell in
"Macbeth." The class just studied the play. Several of the classes are requested to remain in the room. The unfortunate ones know what that means, for a little bird tells them an "exam" is coming. Professor Alee had charge of opening exercises yesterday morning. He explained the facts of the Renssalaer game, but said he had no excuses to offer for Hammond being defeated. He then applied this to the life after one leaves school and said that if you play the game don't flinch, but hit the line hard success will be yours. The next thing on the program is basketball. The seats have all been arranged in the auditorium so practice can be started at once. Some of the grade boys are practicing now. The high school team will not play
Elkhart on Thanksgiving Day. The necessary arrangements could not be
made, so this ended the project. For the debate today the "O. G. D
bating society" will debate whether or not the government should own the
railroads.
