Walter Wolf and Wm. Rogers Get Their Liberty, After Betas Grilled. ' Walter Wolf and William Rogers, who have been under arrest on the .charge of having held up and robbed Frank Bough, the Gary resort keeper, I were released after a severe grilling In Justice Fitzgerald's court. The trial lasted practically the whole afternoon, the attorneys on both sides fighting hard. . A, W. Kiccum, the bartender for Bough, who should have been one of the strongest witnesses for the state testified that he could not absolutely Identify the two that invaded the place two weeks ago and held up the proprietor. Frank Bough still suffers from the gun shot that he received in the hooting.

ness. One of the best attendance that was ever had at a dancing school went to the weekly dance last night in the Hall building, corner of Sixth avenue and Broadway. The dance was given by Miss Thorpe, the instructor. Rev. Dismeler of the German M. E. church of Hammond was in Gary yesterday for the purpose of transacting business in connection with the new German M. E. church, which he Is thinking of establishing in the city. The plans, however, have not gone very far.

BUILDING PERMITS. The following building permits were issued by the city department yesterday: Two-story building on lot 18, block 75, Gary Land company's first addition, for O. A. Ward. Two-story frame building on lot 2, block 10, in Broadway addition, for Adolph Metz.

It is said that a Swedish Lutheran church will be established in Gary

within a short time. s

Work on the new $2,000 German Evangelical church on Lincoln and Calumet avenues is progressing rapidly and the ' members of the church from . Gary and Toleston expect to be located In the new church before the first of the year. The pastor of the new church will be Rev. E. A. H. Kayser of Chesterton, Ind. The congregation In the two towns is said to number over sixty members. Work has already started on two of Gary's new churches, the Presbyterian and the Congregational. Ground has been broken and the foundations

for the new buildings are being put in.

The previous bond was found to be no good by the judge and the latter demanded a new one and raised the amount from $1,000 to 13,000. If Smith falls to furnish this bond he will be compelled to move out of the Smith building Monday.
