Wedding Takes Place. A pretty; and perfectly appointed

wedding took place this morning

(Tuesday) at the Presbyterian church

ln Spirit Lake, Iowa, when Miss Mary

Stoerlein and Alexander M. Hamilton

were united in marriage.

The wedding is of extreme Interest

to Whiting people Inasmuch as it im

plicates two of our popular young

people. Tha bride has been connected

with the local high school for the past

seven years acting in the capacity of

assistant principal and English teacher.

During her residence in Whiting she

has always been a social favorite. Her bright nature and striking appearance

have served to win for her a universal

popularity. She is also a charter mem

ber of the Fortnightly club, one of

Whiting's most exclusive organizations

Mr Hamilton came to this city from

Louisville, Ky., about four years ago

a stranger, known to but few. He

readily made friends which are num

bered by his acquaintances. He now holds a lucrative position with the

Standard Oil Co., being held ln the

highest esteem by his employers.

After spending two weeks with the bride's parents in Spirit Lake, Mr. and

Mrs. Hamilton will return to Whiting

and will reside in New York avenue

where a cozy little home is already

awaiting them.

The courtship of this couple which

was watched with great interest owing to their popularity, dates back about

three years. The last few months sev

eral difficulties have popped up, but as fate wouM have that did not inter

fere with the date of their marriage,

The first of these difflcultiea. arose when the groom was taken 111 with

typhoid fever and for six weeks hover

ed between life and death at St Ber

nard's hospital in Chicago. During

this time his fiancee proved her loyalty

to her intended husband by being

daily visitor at the hospital and saw that nothing was left undone for his

welfare. When he came from the hos

pital, he being very weak, was forced to go to his home in Louisville, where

lt took him several weeks to recupe

rate.

While ln the hospital a real estate

transaction was made which brought

Mr. Hamilton into possession of the

house in New York avenue, which 1

to be their future home. As soon as

he was able men were engaged to en

tirely remodel the house, putting In

all modern conveniences and improve

ments. The work was about completed

when about 11:30 p. m. two weeks ago

the Hickory family residing next doo

discovered the home to be on fire. The

fire caused quite a little stir but, al

though very much excited Mr. Hamil

ton said he was thankful that It was no worse. The house is now again repaired and ready for occupancy. A most hearty welcome will be extended to them upon their, return by their many friends, who are anxiously awaiting their arrival.
