Mrs. O'Donnel Is 111. Mrs. George O'Donnel. wife of the proprietor of the Gary hotel, was taken ill In her apartments in the hotel and is now in serious condition. Mrs. O'Donnel took a turn for the worse Sunday night, but was relieved after prompt medical attention. Mrs. O'Donnel has been suffering from tonsilitis several times since she came to Gary from Ohio, and the atmosphere does not
seem to agree with her. A trainea nurse has been retained to care for her

Forest Fire Threatens.
A forest fire south of the Wabash

for a time took on a very threatening aspect. The blaze was fought by a number of foreigners with buckets of slough water, under the supervision of the police, until the flames was well

Priest Visits Friends.
Rev. John Pascouta, formerly pastor
of the local Greek Catholic church of
this city, but now of Pennsylvania, arrived in Whiting to remain until Friday. His family, who have been spending the summer at their hame at PaPaw Lake, arrived today, to also remain until Friday when the entire family leave for Pennsylvania to take up their residence there.

James Scanlon, clerk of the Gary
hotel, went to Chicago last night for
the purpose of doing some shopping, and for other purposes that are not
such hard work.
Dr. Templin Is In a quandary as to
what to think of the federal inspectors for whom he sent a telegram, and received the reply that they would be in
Gary Monday. They have been side
tracked at Hammond, where they
pounced upon the milk men and sur
prised them and it .is likely that they
will do the same thing in Gary. It Is likely to prove interesting after they so arrive in Gary. The opening of the new skating rink, under the management of E. C. Turner which was to have been held Tuesday
night, has been indefinitely postponed
because of the fact that the building could not be completed in time. The
structure is located on Massachusetts street, near Fifth avenue. This is one of the finest rinks in this part of the state, and will undoubtedly prove pop
ular right from the start. The date of
the grand opening will be set Just
as soon as the management can deter
mine when the building will be ready
to occupy.
Mr. and Mrs. Erickson, who were
recently married to the surprise of
their friends at Lafayette have come
to Gary, where they will make their
home in the future. They have not
fully decided on a location but they will secure temporary quarters at once. Mr. EriAson is a draftsman in the employ
of C. E. Kendricks.

Judge P. L Fitzgerald returned yes
terday from his fishing trip near his old home in Walkertown. The Judge
did not have very good luck in landing the finny tribe but reported a splendid
time Just the same. Charles Flagg, the deputy prosecut

handling the police court work, after an absence of several days. Attorney Flagg has been on a vacation at his
