chestral hall today for the purpose of adopting a platform and nominating candidates for president and vice president. The initial session was given over to the opening addresses of the temporary chairman and others, followed by the appointment of the usual committees. Hearst to accept the presidential nomination of tl.r independence party. Thomas L. Ilisgen of Massachusetts is the man most prominently mentioned for the head of the ticket. Mr Hisgen ran for governor of Massa-

White Short interest in wheat is
largely eliminated. Don't get long wheat at these prices. Logan If there is a return of higher temperatures northwest the wheat market will bull so much the quicker. Pringle We feel that the buying of September and December wheat is in order. Ware & Leland It looks to us as if further reactions in wheat will be seen but on a good break we favor buying. Barrell With the winter wheat being taken care of, we think the price possibilities in wheat are on the bull
side and advise buying on all spots. Bartlett Reports in regard threshing of oats continue mixed
it looks as though the recent advance in the new crop months had discounted the advices of poor yields. Iake We think the tendency of wiieat is higher and would advise being long.

Fireless Firecrackers. Do you remember how you used to pop leaves when you were a kid? You laid the leaf over the palm of your left hand and then struck it with your right. On the same principle as this, with half a rubber bulb to take the place of the hollow palm, and a piece of newspaper over the top to pop instead of a leaf, a fireless firecracker can be invented.
