Andrew Nommenson of G03 Ninetyseventh street, who was killed In the GranJ Rapids. "Wis., trkgedy last week, was buried yesterday afternoon In Concordia cemetery In West Hammond. Funeral services were held at the South Chicago Lutheran church, Rev. Richter officiating. The deceased having ben a member of the Old Settlers' Association, that body marched from the. house to the church in the atternoon, and some of the members went alone to the cemetery.

lagle Hands Are First to Co Employe See Much Work Ahead, lint Cannot Account (or Lay-off. Three hundred men were laid off at the Nickel Plate Bhops last Saturday. Plenty of work is on hand and the men are puzzled to know why they were laid off. In discharging the three hundred men the officials picked out only those who were unmarried, giving married men the preference. It is thought by those who are in close toucli with the situation that the lay-off will only bo temporary, as there are several orders on hand and more expected during the next two weeks.

Chicago, yesterday, endangering the lives of the owner and Andrew Conover, who was to have been his guest on a river trip. The accident happened between Ninety-fifth and Ninety-sixth streets. The two men, seeing that it was all off with the boat, jumped out and clung to thes ides of it, hoping that help would arrive before the craft would sink. The fire tug Michael Conway at the Ninety-second street bridge, came to their rescue, taking them on board and towing the crippled launch ashore.

Thomas Pork, 902S Superior nvemie, was arrested this momiig on a warrant sworn out by John McShea, Sr., on the charge that Pork, permitted a dangerous dog to run at largj. Pork's dog yesterday afternoon attacked Mr. McShea's son John Jr., biting him on the leg and inflicting other wourds. He lives at 93 aEst Nlntieth street. The police, yesterday took a bull dog which was running at larga at Manhattan beach to the police statian to examine for rabies. The brute bit little Dorothy Nelson, a fourteen-year-old girl from Englewood, who had come to the beach to bathe.

between Michigan City and Laporte shortly after noon.
