ACME SOCIAL C1.1 U MEETS. The members of the Acme Social club were very pleasantly entertained yesterday afternoon by Mrs. C. S. Price at her home in East State street. All the members were present and spent the afternoon with cards. Pedro was played, at which Mrs. Barney Kenney won first honors ami Mrs. Charles Bonr.er second. At the close of the games the hostess served her guests with dainty ref reshments.

PICXIC AT TUB LAKE FROXT. A large crowd of young people will go to the lake front this evening to enjoy a picnic party. They will take their suppers and enjoy games during the, evening. There was a good attendance of members present. The ladies planned to give a social July 30 in the tabernacle, the proceeds of which will be used for the new church building fund. It was also decided to have no meeting next Thursday, the regular meeting day. At the close of the business session a short social hour was enjoyed when the hostess served refreshments. With Apct la T. Mrs. W. A- Jordan received word from her husband who recently left for Delhart, Tex., saying that he had arrived and was very much pleased with what he found in the promised land.

This would indicate that Mr. Jordan will make the investments which he contemplated making there and that he will leave Hammond and live in the sunny south. The Judge will continue his investigations of the prospects in the vicinity of Delhart and later will return to Hammond to settle up his business affairs preparatory to moving away from

the city.

STRANDED NEAR BLACK OAK. Charles Jewell of Webb street and liis family had quite an unusual experience last night near Black Oak. Because of some accident to their machine and their inability to get a telephone message through to Hammond for help, they were compelled to remain in car until after 2 a. in.

TWO BICYCLISTS RIDING FROM NEW YORK TO PARIS.

Word was received from Highlands this morning that two bicycle riders passed through the village this morning bound for Hammond, who are riding from JSVw York to Parts. The adventurers were Geo. Wellough and Robert Hillrnorth. They will change wheels in Chicago and start at once on the rest of their trip to the French capital.
