The German Lutheran ministers of Lake and Porter counties held their monthly conference with Rev. P. Clausen at the German Lutheran parsonage Monday. An Interesting meeting was held. Papers were read by Rev. A. Both of Crown Point, and Rev. P. Clausen, and short talks on the general welfare of- the congregations by the visiting clergymen. Nine ministers were present. Gnvlt of AVhlttng I re elected president of the company. FUNERAL THIS AFTERNOON. The funeral of Fred Koch, the 19-year-old son of Bernard ' Koch. D24 State street, took place this afternoon. Services were held at ihe name of the parents, after which the remains were taken to the German Evangelical Friedens church, where Rev. Weil officiated. Interment took place at Oak Hill cemetery. The young man who. was the victim of a friend's rage last Sunday night, in Terre Haute, was very popular In Hammond, and many people visited the Koch home last night and this morning to express their sympathy to the bereaved family for the untimely death of the young man. Mrs. Lettie Brunswick Is Intered This Afternoon at Oak Hill Cemetery. Sirs. Ijettie Brunswick, late supreme councilor of the Daughters of Liberty was burled this afternoon in the family lot at Greenwood cemetery. The deceased having been a member of the Tribe of Ben Hur, Hammond Hive No. 2 L o. T. SI., the Daughters of Liberty and the Rebeccas, members of these orders turned out in a body to escort the remains to their last resting place. The funeral services were held at the Christian church on Indiana avenue, the Rev. C. J. Sharp of the Christian church officiating. Before the services the remains lying in a couch casket were viewed by hundred of friends. Sirs. Brunswick rested on the brown couch and looked very life-like, her features seeming as if she was asleep. She was gowned in a brown China silk, the bertha of which was handembroidere.l in pink. At the foot of the couch lay a large bouquet of American beauty roses. The active pall-bearers were Slessrs. A. SI. Turner, J. I). Pontius, S. E. Swaim, A. F. Knotts, J. K. Stinson and John SI. Stinson. The honorary pallbearers were selected from the different lodges of which the deceased was a member. OFF FOR ST. Klemperer sain this morning that he is of the opinion that the buiness outlook is brighter than ever before and he is going to Grand Rapids to lay in a large stock of goods with the idea of meeting th demands this fall. Sir. Klemperer is a great advocate of the gospel of trading at home. He thinks that the Hammond merchants are now displaying as high a class of goods as can be seen in the Chicago stores and he. said when people will buy $200 and $300 bedroom suits they must be well satisfied with the stock of furniture that is carried by local stores. Sir. Klemperer's trip to the world's greatest furniture market will be for the purpose of acquainting himself with the latest designs and making purchases of the best stock obtainable. George Rohrman of 9 One Hundred and Fifty second street, was bitten by a dog yesterday afternoon while walking on West State street. It Is not known whether the dog was mnd or not It sank its teeth into the young man's arm, although In doing so it did not seem to be making a vicious attack. The dog was playing In the street and Rohrman In passing, called the dog. It was frothy at the mouth, but this may have been due to being warm from play Ing.
